Please keep talk above this line[edit]

In this portion of the talk page, I am preserving currently-unused ideas for mechanics and lore of this race. Please do not edit below this part of the page, unless you are moving something from the page to here, or something from here has been added to the page. Because a Toon's skin is thin and they have no bones or othe rigid internal structures, they are vulnerable to amputation. When subject to a critical hit from a natural 20, a Toon must make a Constitution saving throw, DC 10 plus one quarter of damage taken, or lose a limb. When subject to losing a limb, roll Table 1

d12 Table 1: Random Limb Amputation
1 Left Hand
2 Left Hand
3 Left Arm
4 Right Hand
5 Right Hand
6 Right Arm
7 Left Foot (Your walking speed is reduced by half)
8 Left Leg (Your land movement is limited to crawling with a speed of 10ft)
9 Right Foot (Your walking speed is reduced by half)
10 Right Leg (Your land movement is limited to crawling with a speed of 10ft)
11 Tail (Imposes a -2 to AC and Disadvantage on Dexterity checks until regrown, or for 1d4 months.)
12 Head (Decapitation is not necessarily lethal to a Toon. If they have Hit Dice remaining, their momentarily-mindless body will instinctively attempt to regrow its head. If they have no Hit Die remaining, or the regrowth is interrupted, they do die.)

Note: If, for whatever reason, you do not have the body part you rolled, then you are in luck and do not suffer amputation this time.

The following is here on the Talk page because it strikes me as unbalanced, due to the two notable upsides and lack of a downside.

Spidertoon[edit]

A Spidertoon Ranger

Many-Armed. You have a total of six arms, four of which can be retracted into your body at will. Though you can hold a weapon in each hand, you can still only attack with as many as a two-armed combatant could.
Venomous. You have mandibles, and a venomous bite. An affect to be negotiated between yourself and your GM, but for example, Poisoned, is applied to any creature you bite (dealing 1 Piercing damage), and which fails a Constitution save (DC 10 plus your Con modifier). The duration can be variable depending on what the venom does, but Poisoned, for instance, should not last more than 1d4 rounds.
