Swarming Mace (5e Equipment)

Stub Logo.png This page is incomplete and/or lacking flavor. Reason: What does "Dexterity can only hit once per enemy per action" mean? Spike Swarm should be reworked into an effect that forces a Dexterity saving throw rather than making 21 separate attack and damage rolls. 19:27, 14 January 2024 (MST)

Weapon (mace), uncommon

Why do maces have to be melee weapons? I want... MISSILES.

Spike Swarm. This mace has 21 spikes and a button. As an action, you may fire all 21 spikes at any number of targets (split as evenly as possible user getting to decide whatever extra is used on what enemy.) with a range of 120 feet, making a single attack with the mace which is considered a martial ranged weapon for 1d4 + Dexterity modifier (Dexterity can only hit once per enemy per action), if you target more than 4 targets it goes up to 1d6. These missiles are considered magical piercing damage and on hit the spikes disappear. Every 30s this mace auto magically reloads itself from the spikes that magically disappeared and if any are destroyed or similar it will take 1d20 days to magically rebuild the spikes and spikes cannot be replaced. If all spikes are destroyed the mace will blow up immediately only dealing 3 damage within a 10-foot range. You have advantage on any attacks made with this and it is unable to make melee attacks.
