Ghostblade Tattoo (5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

Wondrous item (tattoo), legendary (requires attunement)

Produced by a special needle, this tattoo causes the user's blood to become pitch black and veins to become visible. Ghastly cracks form in the skin around the tattoo. The tattoo's shape depends on the user.

Tattoo Attunement. To attune to this item, you hold the needle to your skin where you want the tattoo to appear, pressing the needle there throughout the attunement process. When the attunement is complete, the needle turns into the ink that becomes the tattoo, which appears on the skin. If your attunement to the tattoo ends, the tattoo vanishes, leaving behind no traces.

Ghostblade. You gain the ability to cast the steel wind strike spell a number of times equal to your spellcasting ability modifier or your strength modifier (your choice). You regain all uses after a long rest. Additionally, whenever you kill a Medium or larger creature, a shadow is spawned under your control (undead and constructs don't count). The shadow is permanently under your control and follows your orders to the best of its ability.

Incorporeal Movement. You can become incorporeal at will and can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. You take 5 (1d10) force damage if you end your turn inside an object. Additionally, you become resistant to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage from nonmagical sources. For every minute you stay incorporeal, you take 1d10 necrotic damage that cannot be reduced in any way after you become corporeal. The damage is exhibited in the form of sparkling cursed flames.

Curse. This tattoo is cursed. Starting from the moment you attune to this tattoo, a ghost is spawned every hour. It exists until it kills you, or you kill it. It attacks no other creature unless provoked. There is no limit to how many ghosts spawned through this feature can exist at a time. Additionally, you must make a DC 25 Wisdom saving throw every midnight. On a success, nothing happens. On a failure, you are affected by the weird spell. While attuned to this item, you can only cast enchantment and transmutation spells as usual. Whenever you cast a spell that doesn't belong to these schools, you take 10d10 necrotic damage that cannot be reduced in any way. Attuning to this item curses you until you are targeted by a wish. Until the curse ends, you stay attuned to the tattoo even after death. It cannot be removed through any other method.
