Avian Wings. The harpy must move at least 10 ft. before it can take flight.

Homunculi Nature. If the harpy is reduced to 0 hit points by nonmagical damage, she resurrects with half her hit points in 1d4 hours.

Keen Sight. The harpy has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Mother Knows Best. The first mother has control over all harpies descended from her, like how a vampire has control over a vampire spawn. A first mother has control over only harpies of her matriline. (Maru black harpies, Koro gold harpies, etc)

Navigator. The harpy always knows which direction is north.

Pack Tactics. The harpy has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the harpy's allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.

Regeneration. The harpy regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The harpy makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its talons.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage.

Talons. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) slashing damage.

BONUS ACTIONS

Flock Leader. The first mother can command harpies of matching color within 60 ft of her.

LEGENDARY ACTIONS

The harpy can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The harpy regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Detect. The harpy makes a Perception check.
Dive. The harpy flies towards a hostile creature it can see and makes a talons attack.
Wing Attack (Costs 2 Actions). The harpy beats its wings. Each creature within 10 feet of the harpy must succeed on a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or take 15 (2d6 + 8) bludgeoning damage. If it is a Medium or smaller creature, it is also knocked prone on a failure. The harpy can then fly up to half its flying speed.

Harpy first mothers are quite unique among homonculi, in that they are both capable of reproduction and they are among the first of their line. Typically, homunculi only can create thralls as an extension of their hive of magic, while those that are capable of reproduction such as the ogres are far removed from their ancestors. This makes harpies oddities among oddities. Of the known first mothers, three, all of the Houze Prairie colony, are known by name: Koro, the Gold; Zinea, the Red; and Maru, the Black. These first mothers typically work with their clonal offspring, but they can forcibly control them if needs be. While the harpies can break the control of their first mothers, this is typically met with violence, often with the intent to kill. Maru in particular is not keen on letting her offspring, or any harpies of the Houze Prairie, fly free, lest they bring outsiders to their nests.

Variant: First Mother Colors

The statblock as presented is a generic first mother, without the traits of the distinctive matrilines. There are at the time of making this statblock three known first mothers. To adjust this statblock for these individuals, make the below adjustments:
First Mother Maru the Black is the largest, strongest, and leader of the Houze harpies and the first mother of all black feathered harpies. Maru has a Strength score of 21 (+5) and she has the following adjustment to her talons attacks:

  • Talons Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) slashing damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it is also grappled and Maru cannot make a talons attack against another target. Maru can end the grapple as a bonus action.

First Mother Koro the Gold is the swiftest of the Houze harpies and the first mother of all golden feathered harpies. Koro has a Dexterity score of 16 (+3), a fly speed of 30 ft., and the following trait:

First Mother Zinea the Red is the most energetic of the Houze harpies and the first mother of all red feathered harpies. Zinea has a fly speed of 30 ft. and the following trait:
