Weapon, Unique (requires attunement)

Dormant effects

Unholy Resonance While attuned to Dreadforge, your spells and class features that deal necrotic damage ignore resistance to necrotic damage and treat immunity as resistance. Additionally, whenever you deal necrotic damage, you gain temporary hit points equal to half the damage dealt (rounded down) or 10, whichever is higher. These temporary hit points last for 1 hour and cannot be increased or restored beyond their maximum value until they expire.

Deathly Presence The menacing aura of Dreadforge strikes fear into the hearts of your enemies. While attuned to the runeblade, you have advantage on Intimidation checks, and any creature within 10 feet of you has disadvantage on saving throws against being frightened. Additionally, any enemy that starts its turn within 10 feet of you takes 1d6 necrotic damage.

Awakened Effects

Soul Reaper Once per long rest, you can invoke the power of the Soul Reaper. As an action, you can make a melee spell attack with Dreadforge against a target within your reach. On a hit, the target takes 8d6 necrotic damage and must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the target's hit point maximum is reduced by the amount of necrotic damage taken until it finishes a long rest. If this reduction drops the target to 0 hit points, its soul is instantly destroyed, and it can't be resurrected by any means.

Exalted Effects

Unholy Empowerment As a bonus action, you can channel the unholy energy of Dreadforge to empower yourself. Until the end of your next turn, you gain the following benefits:

Your melee weapon attacks deal an additional 2d6 necrotic damage.

Whenever you deal necrotic damage, you regain hit points equal to half the damage dealt.

You have advantage on saving throws against spells and abilities that deal necrotic damage.

You have resistance to necrotic damage.

Your movement speed increases by 10 feet.

Once during this duration, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack roll against you or a creature within 5 feet of you.
