Discussion:Transferring Enchantment Bonuses

From D&D Wiki

are there ANY ways to transfer weapon and armor enchantments? i know the artificer can but what about in campaigns that don't use the eberron rules? i haven't even been able to find any house rules on it eather.

im sure this has happened to numerous players who don't have Dm's that cater to there needs and favor random treasure.

ex- The Dm, "you cast identify and find the scimitar to be a flaming sword +1". Player, "that's really sweet now i can do +1d6 extra damage and have a +1 weapon! Wait that sucks im specialized in long sword!"

it seems to me there should be a way to transfer the magic from one item to another even if you need Craft magic arms and armor or even a spell.

SOLUTION:

All weapons can be Improved. The players can take that Scimitar +1 Flaming, Sell it, take the gold and have their Longsword +1 improved by paying the Difference in the cost of the 2 Items. Look under crafting Magic Items in the DMG or the Magic Item Compendium.
