Clown's Cutter (5e Equipment)

Weapon (dagger), rare (requires attunement)

This dagger item is exquisitely crafted from the finest materials and glows with a pale radiance in moonlight, shedding dim light in a 5-foot radius. It seems to be constructed from gold and silver, though it has a hardness far stronger than steel, being essentially unbreakable and suggesting an origin from the Feywild. The sinister history of this weapon is unclear, though amid the Feywild it is rumored to have been a weapon by a legendary bard of the Unseelie Court, whose names and aliases were both numerous and uncertain.

(SENTIENT ITEM: INT 11, WIS 14, CHA 14. The item can understand, speak, and read the common tongue. It has hearing and normal vision up to 30 feet. Its alignment is chaotic evil.)

Personality wise, it has a joke for every occasion, especially where the humor is inappropriate. Due to its tendency to do vocal impersonations, this may unfortunately draw its user into a fight. Lastly, for some reason it has a very strong dislike for the gods Lathander, Tyr, and Sune and their followers. The Cutting Clown will insult-comic and taunt them mercilessly. The Clown's Cutter likes to try to persuade their user into acts of evil if it would lead to an ironic outcome.

CURSED. Once attuned, you are cursed. As long as you remain cursed, you are unwilling to part with this dagger. While attuned to this dagger, you have disadvantage on all attack rolls with a weapon other than this dagger. You can break the hold the weapon has over you with a Remove Curse spell.

The Cutting Clown counts as a +1 magical weapon, granting the user +1 to both their attack and damage rolls. The user of the Cutting Clown can choose to utilize the cantrip Vicious Mockery, whereas the dagger taunts a single individual as per the spell, in lieu of their attack action.

Once, whenever the Cutting Clown first damages an opponent during a round, it will cast Tasha’s Hideous Laughter upon the victim with a DC save of 8+the proficiency bonus of the wielder. If the victim fails their save and becomes inflicted with Tasha’s Hideous Laughter, the wielder of the Cutting Clown must immediately make a save versus Tasha’s Hideous Laughter at the same DC.
