Mist Breathing[edit]

Mist Breathing is as mysterious as it is deadly with its users cloaking themselves in thick layers of mist even other demon slayers have a hard time seeing through. There is no wonder how they have become infamous for being able to slay demons with nobody ever noticing.

Whenever a saving throw is called for the dc will be equal to 10+the mist breather's proficiency modifier + the mist breather's wisdom or dexterity modifier (players choice)

First Form: Low Clouds, Distant Haze[edit]

The user utilizes their breathing prowess and makes a precise and well-placed piercing attack backed with the full power of their breath, this attack which is made as a normal attack but deals an additional 1d6 piercing damage. This form expends the mist breather’s main action and one breathing point.

Breath Release[edit]

Whenever a mist breather makes use of a form, of any kind the area around them is enveloped in a thick mist, at level one this mist covers a 20ft area centered around the square the mist breather was in when they made their attack. When in this mist the mist breather is able to conceal their movements with ease, granting them an additional +4 to stealth checks made while in the mist, having the additional effect of granting their attacks and breathing forms that use attack rolls advantage against targets that the mist breather started their turn at least 10ft away from as long as the mist breather started their turn in the mist, and their target is in the mist when they attack.

Second Form: Eight-Layered Mist[edit]

The user gathers themselves instantly entering a low stance followed by a short lung allowing them to reach a target up to 10ft away as they unleash eight fast slashes layered one atop another nearly instantly, this form requires a DEX save from the victim, on a fail the victim takes 10d2 slashing damage, but on a successful save the victim will take half damage. Using this form expends the mist breather’s main action, as well as two breathing points.

Third Form: Scattering Mist Splash[edit]

As a reaction to a projectile being launched at them, the user makes a slash covering the three squares in front of them nearly instantly, granting them +3ac against incoming projectiles seeing as this slash is so fast it can blow back projectiles. Using this form expends the mist breather’s reaction as well as one breathing point.

Scattering Mist Splash, can be used with increased potency

By expending an additional breathing point, the user gains an additional point of ac upon using this form.

The mist thickens[edit]

Your control over your mist grows allowing you to now create 35ft of mist instead of 20ft whenever a form is used.

Forth Form: Shifting Flow Slash[edit]

The user enters a ducking position with their sword sheathed before unsheathing their blade and dashing towards a target up to 20ft away from them at the same time gathering mist around their blade as they move at inhuman speeds, creating an attack that is difficult to dodge, and difficult to track to the untrained eye. This unsheathing slash is rolled as a weapon attack with advantage and deals 1d12 + mist concealed strike damage + dexterity mod slashing damage, however if the user is already getting advantage from another source when they use this form, they will not only keep said advantage but the attack will deal 1d12+ dexterity mod+ wisdom mod slashing damage as opposed to what it would be if they had made the attack without an outside source of advantage. Using this form expends the mist breather’s main action, as well as two breathing points.

Shifting Flow Slash, can be used with increased potency

By expending an additional four breathing points this form’s base damage goes up to 3d12.

Fifth Form: Sea of Clouds and Haze[edit]

The mist breather dashes multiple times covering the entire area of their mist while making wide sweeping slashes after every dash, forcing every enemy within the mist to make a dexterity save or take 2d12 slashing damage, on a successful save a victim would take half damage. Using this form expends the mist breather’s reaction, as well as three breathing points.

Sea of Clouds and Haze, can be used with increased potency

By expending an additional breathing point, this form deals additional damage equal to the wisdom modifier of the user.

Undercover Intercept[edit]

As a reaction to an enemy that is within the mist breathers mist attacking an ally that is within the same mist. The mist breather will instantaneously dash to the position within the mist where the attack occurred and attempt to intercept it, if the attack is a melee attack made with a weapon or part of the enemies body, the mist breather can make an attack against that weapon or body part in an attempt to break it or slash it off through a contested dexterity check. However, if the attack is a blood demon art or ranged attack the mist breather can instead attempt a block or repel standing in between the ally being attacked and the enemy attacking.

The mist thickens once more[edit]

You are closing in on becoming one with the mist and your conjured mist now covers a 45ft area. Additionally, the mist breather now gains a +6 to stealth checks while in this mist.

Sixth Form: Lunar Dispersing Mist[edit]

The user performs a short leap before dispersing several ranged slashes towards a target up to 15ft away, there are three slashes and each can be aimed at a different target or all at the same target. These ranged slashes deal 3d4 each and require a dexterity save to avoid, however, if multiple are launched at one target they can all be avoided with a single dexterity save rather than multiple. A successful save results in half damage. Using this form expends the mist breather’s main action, as well as three breathing points.

Seventh Form: Tears of the new dawn, Concealed Pierce[edit]

The mist breather charges up to half of the user's total movement forward being pushed by the mist behind them, with their weapon held in front of them making a piercing basic weapon attack, if this attack lands the victim is impaled creating a burst of mist exploding from their weapon dealing an additional 5d6 force damage on top of the normal weapon damage dealt by the initial pierce. As the mist breather presses their blade into the victim they are able to push the victim a distance equal to the remaining half of the mist breather's movement. If the victim is pushed into a pierceable object or structure they will be pinned to it and be forced to make a contested grapple check to free themself, failing this contest results in the user being able to replicate the burst of mist that occurred after the initial pierce doing an additional 5d6 force damage. This form can only be used while in mist. Using this form expends the most breather’s main action, as well as four breathing points.

Mist Transportation[edit]

You are one with the mist, your speed is hard to replicate, and your movements cannot be tracked. As such, if you begin your turn inside of your mist, you can appear in any square encompassed by the mist, instantly, with no cost.

Eighth Form: Heavy Mist, Perfected Haze[edit]

As a reaction to an attack being made by an enemy within the mist breather's mist, against the mist breather while they are in the mist, the user is able to perform an instantaneous counter attack appearing behind their attacker and making a normal attack (do not add mist concealed strike) that deals an additional 3d6 slashing damage as the mist around the victim strikes with the blade. If this attack lands the damage suffered by the mist breather is negated. Using this form expends the mist breather’s reaction, as well as four breathing points.

Unwavering Mists, go Beyond the Morning Veil[edit]

You are fully in tune with your breathing, your mist is no longer just a safe place, it is your true domain, and as such while in your mist you gain an additional 4 temporary breathing points that refresh every turn you start inside of your mist never exceeding 4 points. Additionally whenever adding a modifier to some form of damage, if you are in your mist the added mod is doubled.

Ability Score Improvement[edit]

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Mist Concealed Strike[edit]

You are able to strike from unexpected spots while standing in your mist, causing you attacks made against enemies within the mist deal additional damage starting at 1d6 and scaling up from there based on level. To see this damage scaling, look to the "mist concealed strike damage" table. Add mist concealed strike damage whenever weapon damage is called for in a form.

Mantra[edit]

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 20th level, you gain the ability to breathe deeply and meditate for a short period of time (1 action) regaining 1 breath point for each level of mantra you have unlocked (see class features table).
