Wings of the Long Dragon[edit]

Monk Subclass

Ever since the ancient times, the ancient dragons and draconic creatures alike have taught people to hone their bodies to become one with dragons, and thus become united as one people. This was, and still is, referred to as the Way of the Ascendant Dragon. The Wings of the Long Dragon is similar to this teaching, but specializes in the mobility and finesse of both eastern and western dragons alike, instead of taking a generalized approach to dragons altogether. In this way, a monk learns to attack and evade with a level of grace and skill beyond that of their contemporaries, at the cost of only embracing a specific part of dragonkin, and not their entirety. With this monastic tradition, however, a monk learns to use finesse weapons much more efficiently than they would normally, and even gains access to permanent draconic flight.

As normal, choosing this Monastic Tradition grants you additional monk features at 3rd, 6th, 11th, and 17th levels.

Draconic Disciple (variant).

3rd level Wings of the Long Dragon feature

You have learned to hone your body to be more dragon-like in nature, allowing you to be more flexible in your movements, your strikes, and even your fluency. Additionally, you learn how to use one-handed martial finesse weapons, in much the same way you would use any other monk weapon. You gain the following benefits:

  • Dragon's Strikes. Whenever you use a monk weapon and/or unarmed strikes to perform a melee Attack on a creature, you may expend 1 ki point to replace the damage-type for that Attack with your choice of either acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison damage. You apply both your Wisdom and Dexterity modifiers to your attack and damage rolls alike when using this feature.
  • Dragon's Tongue. You learn to speak, read, and write in Draconic or one other language of your choice.
  • Uncanny Agility. Your base Armor Class for your Unarmored Defense increases from 10 to 13, and you become proficient with acrobatics. In the event that you are already proficient in acrobatics, your proficiency is doubled instead, granting you expertise in that skill. Additionally, you become proficient in the following finesse weapons, which you may in turn treat as monk weapons while you are using them: rapiers, scimitars, and whips.
Dragon's Wings.

6th level Wings of the Long Dragon feature

As a bonus action, while you are wearing no armor, you may either sprout from or retract into your back a pair of dragon's wings. While your wings are sprouted, you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed. If your wings are retracted, you lose this flying speed altogether, and one of the following events occurs, as a result: in the event that you possess a flying speed, in addition to that of this feature, your flying speed returns to normal; otherwise, you proceed to slow fall.

Dual Wielding.

6th level Wings of the Long Dragon feature

While you are wearing no armor nor wielding a shield, you may wield upwards of two of exactly the same finesse or monk weapon at a time, provided the weapon is one-handed and does not posses the versatile weapons property. Additionally, your Armor Class is increased by 1 (permanently) with this feature.

As a Bonus Action, assuming you haven't already taken a bonus action this turn, and in addition to your Attack with a monk or finesse weapon or an unarmed strike, you may make a second Attack on a creature, using an exact copy of a monk or finesse weapon that you are currently wielding, and apply finesse to your attack and damage rolls with this feature. Alternatively, you may expend 1 ki point to make two additional finesse Attacks on a creature, using monk or finesse weapons for this feature, instead.

Elemental Riposte

11th level Wings of the Long Dragon feature

As a reaction, when you are using two of the same exact monk or finesse weapon in combat, except for a whip or a ranged weapon, you may expend a number of ki points equal to the total number of hit dice for an attack or spell that deals elemental damage (acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison), and reflect that damage back onto its attacker or caster, and then receive half as much damage from that attack or spell.

Draconic Shadow.

17th level Wings of the Long Dragon feature

Your training in the draconic martial arts has caused your shadow to change shape and form, manifesting into a shadowy dragon, which in turn consumes you in a shadowy draconic aura. You gain the following benefits:

  • Misty Step. When you use your Step of the Wind, you may instead replace it with a Misty Step, allowing you to briefly surround yourself in mist, and teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see.
  • Shadowy Subterfuge. You become proficient in the following skills: deception, intimidation, sleight of hand, and stealth. In the event that you are already proficient in one or more of these skills, your proficiency is doubled instead, granting you expertise with that/those skill(s). Additionally, while you are wearing no armor nor wielding a shield, your base movement speed is doubled.
  • Unerring Accuracy (copied from Path of the Kinsei). Your mastery of weapons grants you extraordinary accuracy. If you miss with an attack roll using a monk weapon on your turn, you can reroll it. You can use this feature only once on each of your turns.
