Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: This race seems overpowered compared to similar first-party races, and would benefit from having less powerful traits. For example, 40 feet walking speed, crazy strong natural weapons, damage vulnerability, Large size, near incomprehensible, etc. Is Shapechanger meant to mimic the druids wild shape? Overall requires more work from a mechanical perspective to better compare and integrate with the first party content. Consult the 5e Race Design Guide for help and consider checking out some of the comparable Featured Articles.

Broom Icon.svg.png This page needs grammatical help. Reason: A number of spelling/grammatical/capitalization/wording errors throughout. Consult the Help:When to Italicize and Capitalize for help. The traits need to be mechanically worded correctly as they are often vague or written like casual conversation.

Werebear[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Werebears in their human form looks just like normal people. They however have tendency to have beard. In hybrid form they are around 8 feet tall, they also have bear-like head.

History[edit]

Ursinthropy can be spread like a disease. Sometimes a ursinthrope begins life as a normal humanoid who subsequently contracts ursinthropy after being wounded by a ursinthrope. Such a creature is called an afflicted ursinthropy. Other ursinthrope are born as ursinthrope, and are known as natural ursinthrope.

A ursinthrope can either resist its curse or embrace it. By resisting the curse, a ursinthrope retains its normal alignment and personality while in humanoid form. It lives its life as it always has, burying deep the bestial urges raging inside it. However, when the full moon rises, the curse becomes too strong to resist, transforming the individual into its beast form. When the moon wanes, the beast within can be controlled once again, though those memories often haunt a ursinthrope as bloody dreams.

Society[edit]

Werebears are normally lone wolves and have an unnatural ability to temper their aggressive nature. They go alone normally because they fear what might happen to others if they transform. They act as wardens of their territory and will protect plants and animals inside from others. Though they do avoid biting others to prevent their curse from spreading they will do it sometimes to chosen companions or apprentices. When this happens they will spend the time to help the new Werebear accept its curse.

Werebear Names[edit]

Werebears do not normally change their names and keep names they were born with.
