Balance[edit]

Its worth noting that compared to SRD content, a 1d8 light melee weapon exceeds the damage output of all melee weapons. However, unlike the best light melee weapons, this one lacks finesse. It rewards a Strength-based two-handed warrior, and helps put it on par with the over popular Dexterity-based teo-handed warrior. (Honestly, even with this weapon, the Dex build is probably still superior numericaly for most classes where either is an option.)

I'm pointing out the obvious here, but it's mostly to justify this design before someone comes along to try and delete it. Personally I'd like to see these statistics used in place of the existing Arming Sword (5e Equipment). - Guy 06:22, 8 September 2018 (MDT)

Wow. Guess I should've typed on a keyboard instead of a phone to pre-empt the deletion proposal.
It probably would be best without the versatile property though, yes. - Guy 06:24, 8 September 2018 (MDT)

What differentiates a Norse Arming Sword fundamentally from a shortsword or arming sword? They have similar lengths and they're both one handed. PunnyDM12 (talk) 17:12, 23 November 2018 (MST)

somebody wanted a one-handed, 1d8, light weapon. ~ BigShotFancyMan (talk) 06:26, 26 November 2018 (MST)
You know what. Fair enough. PunnyDM12 (talk) 14:24, 26 November 2018 (MST)
Yeah, can't say I like it though. Just answering with assumption. The weapon loopholes around two-weapon fighting rules. With this guy here, someone can wield two 1d8 weapons. And since it is only a potential 2 extra damage, based on conversations with Vihar (5e Race), people probably think this weapon is "balanced" too. ~ BigShotFancyMan (talk) 07:04, 27 November 2018 (MST)
