This is a really interesting idea, I'll have a closer look at some point to look for possible balance issues. Marasmusine (talk) 02:07, 14 February 2015 (MST)

Hey keep up the good work this is coming along nicely! I would actually make the class archtypes what you pick mutation or embracing insanity that all I can think of at the moment but I am really interested in seeing this completed! -The Happy Newb Zackokross (talk) 07:26, 17 February 2015 (MST)

I want to differentiate this further from a far realm sorcerer by changing the spellcasting ability to Intelligence, which is a better fit for a mage anyway. Marasmusine (talk) 15:01, 5 July 2017 (MDT)

Balance Issues[edit]

Just a few things on the class, not sure if they just slipped under oversight or someone can explain to me the reason why they are balanced:

  • The rays mutation has no range nor damage type.
  • Those bonuses to ability checks are ridiculous. Who needs proficiency or expertise.
  • Nigh Omniscience has something about sanity? Does that have something to do with the sanity ability score or does it just inflict madness? At the moment, it is mechanically unclear
  • Transformation is lacking in parameters both in scope, power and duration. Is it like true polymorph? If so, it can be used infinitely with no limits on use as well as no CR range? So I can become a corelon as many times a day as I want? Totally unbalanced.

Organization Issues[edit]

Reordered Mutations because they were throwing me off, but I'm a little stuck with Flailing Defenses, Rays, and Massive Tentacles. Can anyone confirm if they were meant to be features of Slithering Carriage (which was last above them but had double space between them) or are stand-alone mutations that you get without having to choose? Since at least Rays and Massive Tentacles require tentacles in the first place (and Massive Tentacles builds off of Rays) I think they are meant to be options in the list proper. Still, if anyone could say for sure that would be great.
