I agree that this feat can be considered somewhat overpowered considering the ability to potentially have 8 sorcery points as a level 4 sorcerer as well as being practically useless as a high level sorcerer. My solution would be to replace the second bullet point in the feat with this:

  • When you use a metamagic option, you may use your life's essence in place of your sorcery points. When doing so, you immediately take damage equal to a number of d6's equal to the sorcery point cost of the metamagic option. You may do this once per long rest.

This way, it doesn't break the sorcery point economy, keeps to the theme of blood magic/self harm fueling your sorcery, and it properly scales to still be functionally useful even at higher levels of sorcerer. --DJ Biggs (talk) 07:47, 8 December 2020 (MST)
