Speed Stinger (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
A dragon with no equal in speed on land, what they in a lack of breath attack they make up for in a vast amount of speed, intelligence, jaw strength, claws, and a venomous sting that is said to freeze those it touches
|A pack of speed stingers with an alpha|
An average Speed Stinger is considered very crocodile-like with a mix of raptor. They are around 7 feet in length depending on the one being talked about they either may have two clawed feet or three clawed feet with extendable webbing between the claws. They have fins on their legs back and head to help with wind resistance giving their Speed segment of their names, they have long snouts their teeth going farther back than any dragon. They have a long prehensile tail with a barbed stinger they use to inject their paralyzing venom.
They also have an alpha, outside of a few bodily differences Alpha Stingers don't differ too much from their typical average. The main differences are that they are slightly larger than the average Speed Stinger, their normally green fins are now red with red stripes covering their body.
Many scholars due argue exactly when Speed Stingers came about as unlike many flightless dragons, these ones, though they serve the purpose of increasing terrestrial speed, have wings, it was believed they were the kenkus of the dragon world though this was disproven when their intelligence, especially the Alpha Stinger's, was shown to make new hunting plans and change them.
Speed Stingers are pack dragons and as such are lead by an Alpha. The Alpha has control over the entire pack, so without an alpha these dragons become confused and scared, because of this Speed Stingers don't typically become adventurers unless they are the sole survivor of a complete murder of the pack or are trained from the short wing stage.
Speed Stinger Names
The pack don't assign names to each other as the alpha orders the pack around and so the alpha roaring lets the dragons know who he is talking too. They are typically named by adventurers they hang out with.
