SkieBorne are composed of pure light. Whatever they look like, know it is not their true self. It is simply a physical manifestation of their soul. However, SkieBorn that dwell on the material plane that took these outer skins to contain and disguise their true self have lost the ability to remove them. SkieBorn appearance varies widely depending on the subrace. Moonborn are tall and slim, with pale ghostlike skin. Their hair is generally a dark black streaked with whit, though on occasion it is reversed. Silver eyes rest in their sockets, darkening to black when they are angry. Sunborn are stockily built, reaching around five and a half feet tall. Golden hair rests on their head, the opposite of their dark skin. Eyes the color of sun . Starborn are by far the most varied of the bunch, ranging from five to six feet in height. Their skin can be dark black, pale white, or anything in between. In contrast, their hair is always a light brown. Their eyes are any color imaginable, shifting with their mood. Although no Starborn will look like another, the same cannot be said of Moonborn or Sunborn.

History[edit]

SkieBorn were brought into existence on the very same day the multiverse was created earning them the title “The First Kind”. When the First God, Sindra, emerged from the fog of chaos, there was nothing. No life existed on the barren planes of the multiverse. This displeased Sindra, so they created the first life in their own image. They dubbed this race “The SkieBorn.” After giving them the ability to create life, Sindra spread them across the planes with the task of bringing other races into existence. Some races saw the SkieBorn as gods, and worshiped them as such. The first SkieBorn ascended into divinity, being shaped by the new civilizations beliefs into what they are today. The remaining SkieBorn split, with a small amount remaining on the material plane, and the rest retreating into the sky, coming down to the planes only if the world was at stake.

Religion[edit]

Although they were created by Sindar, most SkieBorn do not wrship him. Only the oldest can remember stories of the true beginning. The original Moonborn priests were visited by Sindra in a dream. They told the priests not to enforce belief in the existence of Themself. Sindar knew that Their race had to grow out of Their shadow. Following Sindars instructions, the Moonborn priests invented a false pantheon of gods for the SkieBorn to worship. Over time, so many stopped SkieBorn believing in Sindra that They began to fade out of existence. With Their last breath, Sindar uttered an ancient spell that fractured his remaining essence into multiple shards. These slivers of Their soul fell into the Material Plane, and have remained there since. Some SkieBorn still hunt for these Soul Shards.

Society[edit]

SkieBorn are separated into three castes. Moonborne are the highest in this society, filling the role of rulers and leading their religion. Sunborne are second, forming their military and healers. Starborne are placed lowest in the system, acting out more common roles, such as builders, and the like. Although they are split into separate groups, there are no rules prohibiting socialization. For example, there are no laws against a Starborne being in a relationship with a Moonborne.

SkieBorne Names[edit]

SkieBorn names are given depending on their subrace. Moonborn names are long, and full of beautiful vowels. Sunborn are names are shorter, with harsh, grating, consonants. Starborn do not have any set naming traditions, blending the naming styles of the Moonborn and Sunborn.
