Shadar-Ki, Variant (5e Subrace)
From D&D Wiki
Elf Subrace[edit]
The Shadow elves have sought to harness the corruptible magic of the shadowfell. Most who tried have fallen into madness but those who succeed are void of any color turning a dark shadowy appearance. Their eyes have switch colors to black irises, and whatever color your iris was, their pupil is now that color. At first glance they look like Drow but if you look closely you can see they don't have a shadow. Some parts you could see right through them. These shadow elves are move of them embracing there home and enhancing their physical traits to be better than their brethren. When they get angry their eyes turn jet black, advantage on intimidation rolls when someone meets your gaze, and in full sun your pupils appear blood red.
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity and Constitution scores increases by 1.
Death’s Door. Souls of the dead get confused and head towards you rather than onto their next life. You must succeed on a Wisdom DC 15 saving throw to prevent a haunting or possession, but anyone who died within 60 feet of you has their revival time limit tripled (depending on the spell). If someone died while you were touching them, they have an extra day to be raised. You can speak with the dead if you know their language.
Life Deterent. Plant matter bends away from you as you pass making harder to track through vegetation, but easier to detect while moving through it. Wildlife grows nervous around you. Living creatures will attack you less often, but in greater numbers with greater caution. Beasts do not trust you and you have disadvantage on all Charisma (Animal Handling) checks. You have advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks against beasts.
Undead. If damage reduces the shadar-ki to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is radiant or from a critical hit. On a success, the shadowborn drops to 1 hit point instead. Additionally necrotic and healing magic switches, spells such as cure wounds now damage shadar-ki while inflict heals.
Language. You can speak, read, and write Undercommon. On critical failures to charisma checks you forget all languages for 1d4 turns and only remember undercommon.
