Mongrel (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
A race of Dog people, Mans best friend.
Mongrel are anthropomorphic dogs that come in many different sizes, breeds and colors.
The exact origin of the Mongrel is not known, but it commonly joked about by older Mongrel that they were originally pets of a very powerful but lonely Wizard.
Mongrel have many small and large communities all over the world, but prefer living in Grasslands and Forests. Every 4-5 years all young Mongrel of a community will group together to go on an adventure to explore the world, however, very few ever finish their quest and often return 1 by 1 within a year. Some do continue on, even alone, and never leave adventuring until much later in life. It is rare, but not unheard of for some to take up residents in Human or Elvish communities.
Whenever 2 Mongrel cross paths they immediately welcome each other speak as though they are long lost friends. They share stories of where they are from and what news they have of nearby Mongrel communities. Violence between Mongrel is unheard of and never crosses their minds no matter how big of an argument or quarrel they have.
Mongrel still mainly use the names their believed to be ancestor's used when they were still household pets and companions. However, even the Mongrel that no longer do this still do not have family names as they view all Mongrel as their family.
