I'm curious,a supplement my friend owns has rules for chronomancy, or the magical manipulation of time. The 9th level spell of that branch allows pretty much unlimited travel into the past. If you went back to somewhere near the beginning of civilization, and planted rumors of your character coming as a messiah in the future, then popped up for worship every couple centuries or so, could you make yourself into a pseudo-god?

That would be very crafty. If they succeded in gaining enough worshippers, they would become a Lesser Deity. (An immortal but killable god) They may be able to ascend to Greater Godhood (An immortal, invulnerable god who doesn't actually have a body but can create avatars of themselves to carry thier messages) if they gained many millions of followers. It might have some impact on the history of the world though.
