Lydian Android (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
“When we entered the main chamber, deep underground, we found them. Husks that were in the shape of men, but made of hard metals. We thought they were dead. We thought…” -Excerpt from Lady Miriam's research journal

The androids have the general shape of a human. Bipedal with one head. A platinum-gold alloy covers most of their body, with carbon fiber mesh joints, plate glass, and silicon-cobalt machinery. They have heat sinks in their backs filled with usually water and stand around the height of a regular human. The three known types of android have differing structures. An SR unit will be lean, with long legs and an attached grappling hook in its arm. An IR unit will generally have multiple eyes and be smaller than other units, and a TC unit will be bulkier with built in armor and an overclocked core. No matter the design, all units have one core that powers all their functions as well as one brain. The cores are made of an unknown substance, and they are fueled using solar energy.
Little is known about the androids, other than that they were used for war. Of the 800 that were first discovered, not one of them has any memory of what happened before they were shut down. The only android that had any sort of information was an Information Recovery unit that knew the location of other tombs that contained androids. The greatest sages and monks of the world say that the magic used to weave their souls is far beyond that of modern magic. Now, over 10,000 androids have been discovered all around the world with more being discovered each year.
With the introduction of advanced technology into an unwitting and unready world, much strife has been created. Many androids are vied for by kings and lords to aid in war, but they are simultaneously despised and feared by the average peasant. Many lead lives of either violence or solitude with little in between. The IR units in particular are shunned because of their natural inclination towards the arcane. With their inability to reproduce also playing into the mix, they make up a powerful, yet fragile and splintered race.
Most SR and TC units simply take their serial number as their names. IR units on the other hand, usually take bits and pieces of naming conventions to make their own. As none of the Androids have gender, they simply choose names they think sound nice. SR = Stealth Reconnaissance, TC = Tactical Combat, IR = Information Recovery.

Made of metal and something like magic, Lydian Androids gain the following benefits.
Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1.
Age. Androids do not age and do not suffer any effects of old age.
Alignment. Androids have no nature, and so they emulate those around them, combining the best features of their peers to maximise efficiency and productivity; and eventually morality as well. As such, their alignment reflects their allies’.
Size. IR Units are 4’6”. SR Units are 5’. TC units are 6’. Your Size is medium. IR Units are 180 lbs. SR units are 120 lbs. TC Units are 260 lbs.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Constructed Resilience. You were created to have remarkable fortitude, represented by the following benefits: You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage. You don’t need to eat or breathe, but you do need to drink water. You are immune to disease.
Solar Powered. You have a solar battery with a charge of 48 hours. You do not lose charge if you are in direct sunlight. You regain 6 hours of energy for every 1 hour you are in direct sunlight or under the effects of magic that mimics sunlight. If your battery reaches 0 hours left you become unconscious and are considered stable. When resting you do not lose charge, but can still gain charge if you are in direct sunlight.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and you can speak Celestial.
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2.
Hookshot. Your left arm doubles as a pressure loaded grappling hook. As an action your hand bursts out of its socket to attach to whatever you aimed it at. The Hookshot has a range of 50 ft and has a tensile strength equal to your carrying capacity. You have the full motor function of your fingers in this state. After recalling your hand, you must wait 6 seconds (1 turn) for the steam to repressurise in your arm. As a rule, if the object you connect to is lighter than you and you recall your hand, it is pulled to you, but if the object is heavier than you, you are pulled to it. (you cannot grapple to an object if you already have something in your hand.)
Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2.
Overclocked Core. The amount of energy in your core has a charge of 72 hours instead of 48, and you regain energy at a rate of 12 hours of charge per 1 hour you spend in direct sunlight.
Armored by Design. You have natural armor equal to 11 + your constitution modifier.
Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 2.
Recording Device. You can record up to 10 hours of high quality video and up to 20 hours of high quality audio and you can start recording at any given time as a free action. You can display the audio and/or video by projecting the recording onto a surface (like a projector).
Although the androids all lost their memories, they were still built with a purpose in mind. Over time, their operating systems began decrypting and defragmenting broken code, revealing pre-existing code, pre-existing training, pre-existing abilities, and pre-existing strengths. As such, Each android unit type has its own natural class that can be chosen instead of other classes. NOTE: While Lydian Androids are the only race that can access these classes, they are not locked into choosing these classes. They are locked to the class that pertains to their subrace however.
EDITORS NOTE: Classes coming soon!
