Physical Description[edit]

This reptillian humanoid has pale green to gray skin with no hair and black eyes. They rarely wear metal armor but often wield spears and other simple weapons. The Lacerti are almost exclusively found far away from other humanoid groups near dinosaurs of various types. They see the dinosaurs as both food source and as an opportunity to prove themselves. Because of this tendancy to strike out on their own, most become barbarians and a few, rangers. Those few outsiders - mostly rangers - that have seen lacerti have often mistaken them for a young deinonychus unless they were carrying spears or similar weapons.

Typically clannish, there has been a recent movement by some tribes to organize into villages led by 7 to 13 elders. However, the clan still dominates the lives of most Lacerti. They choose not to wear boots as they don't like the unnatural feel of them. There are few magic users among the Lacerti. Those few that exist are typically shamans (typically Adept NPC Class). Some do become sorcerers if they are near other humanoids.

Any non-cold. Preferential territory – Tropical Jungle

The Lacerti as a group revere Na’Uro who some believe to be a manifestation of Obad-Hai. Those that leave the tribe to prove themselves rarely change their devotion; however, those that leave for other reasons may choose to worship another deity or may choose to worship Obad-Hai because it is familiar to them and accepted by others.

Lacertos, Common. Bonus Languages: All except secret. Due to the Lacerti difficulty with other languages they suffer a –2 penalty to all Charisma based skills that require understanding of spoken words. The exception is Intimidate as menacing glares followed by unintelligle speach tends to promote cooperativeness in others. This penalty does not apply to Charisma based skills that do not require understanding on the part of others. e.g. A Lacerti would suffer this penalty to Bluff but not to Use Magic Device. They may spend an additional 2 skill points to loose this penalty for each language. This represents the extra effort and attention paid to learn to mimic and thus properly pronounce a language.
