Heat/Cold Shield
3rd-level Abjuration
Casting time: 1 action
Range: 15 foot radius
Components: V, S, M (Something hot (for heat shield) or cold (for cold shield)
Duration: concentration, up to 1 hour

When casting this spell, choose between a heat shield that keeps everyone warm, or a cold shield that keeps everyone chilled. The shield is centered on the caster as they move. The shield protects anyone inside the shield from high or low temperatures, depending on which shield you chose.

All fire damage (if you picked cold shield), or ice damage (if you picked heat shield) that affect any creature (hostile or otherwise) within the boundaries of the shield are reduced by 5, to a minimum of 0. This reduction is applied before damage resistances or vulnerabilities.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4 or higher, the damage reduction is increased by 5 points per spell level used.
