Physical Description[edit]

History[edit]

The half-Grung were created by pure accident. A group of powerful wizards were performing a strange ritual, and, unknowing to them, were right next to a Grung tribes territory. A group of Grung warriors ambushed the wizards which caused the ritual to be disrupted. The ritual in question was an attempt to take an aarakocra and copy its features onto another creature. When the Grung warriors disrupted the ritual, the aarakocras traits were copied onto them instead. The Grung would sprout wings, though they were too small for flight. They spontaneously grew fluffy matte feathers as well, along with growing bird-like talons.

When the Grung warriors returned they were rejected by their tribe. Furious, they ventured far away from their home tribe, seeking appropriate refuge. They found home in a forest with exceptionally tall trees. With their new wings they could easily jump higher than the typical Grung by flapping furiously.

Society[edit]

Half-Grung live in forests, residing within holes carved in extremely tall trees. They are now free from having to submerge themselves in water thanks to their genetic alteration. Unfortunately, they can no long secrete poison for the same reason, though they do retain poison immunity.

Half-Grung rarely come down from their trees unless it is to defend a breeding pool, as they still reproduce the same way. The young are born with greenish-brown down feathers which will become more green as they grow. They are taught to help the tribe, and to never abandon each other.

Due to the half-Grungs contempt for their previous tribe rejecting them, there is no singular ruler like their previous tribes. Each half-Grung consults each other when making major choices, such as finding new territories or deciding whether or not to attack a passing traveler. Half-Grungs have no superiority complex over other races like regular Grungs as they feel humbled with what they’ve gone through. They are less aggressive in nature, and are more willing to let travelers pass through without conflict. This could all just be because of their aarakocra traits, though.
