Stub Logo.png This page is incomplete and/or lacking flavor. Reason: Missing summary line and leading name text. Fennec, and Lakaios aren't first party languages and needs a full description about what they sound like, what script they use, and what races typically speak them. The RW&H table is incorrect, see the PHB. Why are these backgrounds included at the bottom? They have nothing to do with the race.

Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Both the specialized traits aren't in line with what a racial trait should do but including flat bonus's to rolls, traits that cripple you for their use, huge amounts of damage that are not proportionate for low levels of play, flat saving throws, etc. Optional traits should function like the tielfing variants in Mordenkainen Tome of Foe's.

Broom Icon.svg.png This page needs grammatical help. Reason: A number of spelling/grammatical/capitalization/wording errors throughout. Consult the Help:When to Italicize and Capitalize for help. The traits need to be mechanically worded correctly as they are often vague. For example, "Your size is Medium." not "A fennecs size is medium", "You are proficient in the Perception and Survival skill." not "This gives you a proficiency towards all survival and perception skills.", etc...

Fennec[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Fennecs are relatively small in build. They average from 5'4" to 6". They share many physical features with their feral ancestors, fennec foxes. Their fur is naturally short and coarse, with exception to their tail, natural coloration tends to be dusty shades of brown and yellow. They have sharp claws and teeth which gives them an advantage in hand to hand combat. Their sharp sense of hearing and smell gives them an increased ability to sense their surroundings, whether it's tracking someone or something, or just paying attention to their surroundings. They also have an inherent connection to dark magics, however only a few who have passed a multitude of aptitude and personality tests get to study magic. The Royal family, The Ikusens, Rule the Fennec empire Efficently and fairly. Under their rule the empire flourishes and prospers, with enough power to rival that of a human empire.

Due to their light stature they are ideal as thieves or rogues. Or due to their inherent connection to magic they make good magi, however this path is only for a select few of those with good virtue and those of royal connections.

History[edit]

The Fennec Empire was a prosperous and prestigious civilisation. They had wealth to rival that of the Dwarves and might to rival that of the Humans. They were a well respected Empire, loved by many. They shared many diplomatic treaties with other Empires and Races. The citizens of the Empire were all well treated and there was very little poverty throughout the Empire. Unfortunately this could not last, as other Races began to get envious of the Fennec's might. Eventually one race snapped and attacked the Empire. The Lakaios. A race similarly evolved from primal predecessors, wolves, they had similar natural traits to the Fennecs. However, when it came to combat, they were superior. The ensuing war lasted for several years, and the Lakaios were winning, before the Princess of the Empire, Dakuvu Ikusen, agreed to an arranged marriage where she would marry the Lakaios prince, Ursua Okyro. At the age of 18 she married him and all was peaceful for two years. The fighting stopped, the people were beginning to relax. Then on the princess's 20th birthday Ursua sprang a coup. He butchered Dakuvu's family and royal guard, He made waste to the Empire and enslaved many of the Fennecs to preform experiments on or just to use. Dakuvu herself was captured and spent several months in captivity before escaping. Legend says she is lying in wait, building a resistance to retake the throne of her Empire, avenge her family, and liberate the Fennec people.

Society[edit]

Following the fall of the Empire the Fennec people are treated as slaves, whether for pleasure or labour they are seen as criminals and shunned by all but a few sympathisers. If a Fennec has escaped slavery or even has been freed they would usually hide their identity, afraid that someone may enslave them again or report it. Only a few would blatantly boast their heritage in these times. Many who are free of slavery seek Dakuvu, in order to aid in the resistance and serve justice.

Thanks to your racial connection to the dark magics you can cast this spell once every day. An orb of shadows violently erupts from your body, expanding 20ft in every direction. Causing 3d6 (4d6 from level 5+) necrotic damage to any living thing caught in the blast, that does not survive a DC15 con saving throw, except for yourself. It causes the user to go into a state of level 2 exhaustion.
