Eltieam (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
|“||When thinking of a glorious empire, there is no better example of order and success then an eltieam. These roman inspired generals are natural leaders in every way, they have sharp wits and a way with words that gives them the edge in creating strong groups or kingdoms. They function like many other races with how they live their lives with only slight differences. The eltieam are a organized people with little room for weakness in their military ranks, if a soldier or legionnaire falls sick, he is retired until well. If they are injured irreparably, they are retired permanently. To come into combat with an eltieam isn't unwise, it is like any other encounter unless they have friends. With their leadership a party can flourish to heights even the deadliest of foes can't contend with.||”|
Much like a human at first glance or tiefling when closer, when seen in entirety, the eltieam are clearly neither. They look similar to both, with red skin in varied shades, dark but commonly black hair, and human heights and physical features. They lack tiefling horns and tails and are relatively hairless from their neck down. The thing that sets them apart from other races is their eyes. Their eyes are like any other with a white canvas and a black dot. However the colour is usually a metallic one like gold, silver, copper and many others.
The origins of the eltieam are widely known to the people of the world. They began like the rest of the races through creation of the gods. They, like the elves of the world, were blessed with long life, which is a major part of the success of their kingdoms. The eltieam used to have a vast large empire that controlled all if not most of the world they lived in. However, like many empires the greed for power was its downfall when those from within clawed for the title of emperor. It sparked an internal war that didn't use swords or spears in conventional warfare. Instead it was a war of betrayal and assassination. The conflict left the race divided and leaderless, scattered in their closed clans across the land. One day maybe they will be united again under a single banner. For now they lead small villages and kingdoms under their individual clans. They live separate from each other or sometimes at war with one another, still sore over the fall of their original, nameless kingdom of paradise.
Each eltieam is raised to be either one of three things: a worker, a thinker or a fighter. Workers are considered the backbone of their society and are given a lot of rights and leeway. Thinkers are scholars, politicians and philosophers. Fighters were combat based individuals usually enrolled in the collective army. Any of these eltieam can rise to a position of power. Historically, it is most often that the thinkers lead. This does not always mean they have thinking leaders. Sometimes these philosopher kings were a hassle to deal with in and of themselves due to their tendency to overthink.
Eltieam society devotes a large portion of resources to special armor and weaponry for their army. They usually outfit their soldiers with large plated armour that is separated into different plates for maneuverability. The armour is usually made up of a chest piece, leg pieces, arm pieces, bracers, boots and a helmet. The weapons they use are always the same. Spears for cavalry defense, short gladius swords for close range, lightweight crossbows for the ranged enemies and finally the most important, tower shield for an unbreakable defense.
Eltieam towns and kingdoms vary in size based on their founding clan. Since the fall of their original kingdom, no one knows exactly how many clans exist. These groups are scattered across various regions and climates, doing their own deals of diplomacy and waging wars with others when not infighting with other eltieam. They are known to trade high quality goods like their armor and weapons. In general, they tend to despise the other clans more than they do any outsiders.
