Discussion:Weapon enhancements

From D&D Wiki

I can't find anything that specifically states that you can't put the same special ability on a weapon more than once. However everyone I know assumes this is so(including myself until recently). one friend said that it counts as bonus damage and bonuses dont stack. But it in the DMG it says for example "A frost weapon deals an extra 1d6 points of cold damage on a succesful hit" not bonus and I know they're very specific with their wording on such things. It would make a lot more sense to me conceptually to put frost on a weapon a few times rather than frost and flaming and shock.

--> One is able to place as many weapon enchantments/Enhancements as they choose on a weapon as long as they are able to pay the equated + bonuses it some enhancements do now stack however. Let's say I have a double keen alert longsword my threat range would double twice and I would know all boatload around me for the alert effect,, however if I had a double alert thundering longsword my range of alert would not double because it specifically says a distance in it's effect. This has been the way since first edition.. If you character lived long enough to get a enchanted weapon. 3.5 could have changed it but I doubt it because it survived through every other edition.
