The Crystallite are a race most noted for the wild variance in appearance and ability. All at once beautiful and terrible, these beings of arcane origin do not form societies of their own and have no language. Because of their enormous size and useful abilities, it is not uncommon to find Crystallites held as slaves, especially in Dwarf, Gnome, and Halfling societies.

A Varied Race[edit]

Giant Red Crystallite, Faygo_Rain,

Owing to the chemical structure of their crystalline bodies, Crystallites vary widely in appearance, most notably in color. This color determines much about their lives, including which societies will value them and what their abilities will be. Most Crystallites are tall and slender, but have also been known to take on stout forms.

Arcane Origins[edit]

The first Crystallite was discovered when an Elven alchemist experimenting with using crystals to store alchemical properties was surprised to discover that some of the crystals had gained sentience. For some time, Crystallites were confined to Elven society as sentries. However, these Crystallite sentries eventually betrayed their owners and became nomads.

Many liquid substances can eventually become Crystallites given the right conditions. Crystallites, although difficult to tame, are very useful as laborers. Even though their qualities change extremely depending on their alchemical composition, all Crystallites are incredibly strong. The industrious societies of the Dwarves, Gnomes, and Halflings have been the most successful at taming these beings.

Crystallite Names[edit]

Crystallites, due to their inability to speak, have no use for names and are thus only given a name by an owner or companion.
