Blade Dancer[edit]

Using special, almost assassin like weapons normally found equipped on their hands and feet, sometimes ankles, wrists, and other extremities, to combat their foes in odd ways.


DISCLAIMER: This class is based on the work of Monty Oum in the form of his characters Melanie and Miltiades Malachite. I take no credit for any ideas, abilities motifs, or anything else, as this is a class made by a fan for his characters.

Making a Blade Dancer[edit]

Abilities: Dexterity and Strength are the most needed. While it is not meant to be a heavy hitting class, the Blade Dancer needs their Strength to be high to deal more damage, as their odd fighting styles cannot take use of their full strength potential, and Dexterity is needed for their lack of armor wearing and overall need to get in, and quickly escape combat or use their nimbleness to keep alive. Constitution is always a plus, as it makes up for their low Hit Die. Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma are mainly needed for their select skills.

Races: Races that are prone to savage and wild out bursts never look at the Blade Dancer's way of combat.

Alignment: Any.

Starting Gold: 1d4 x 5.

Starting Age: Moderate.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Blade Dancer.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The Blade Dancer is not proficient with any armor and shields. She is also proficient with her special weapons only, see below.

Blades: At first level, the Blade Dancer has access to two sets of blade weapons: Wrist and Ankle. At creation, the Blade Dancer MUST choose whether they are dominate in using their wrist/hand weapons, or feet/ankle weapons. This cannot be switch once selected. Both sets of weapon have the stats of a Dagger (1d4, 19-20, x2). With access to four weapons, the Blade Dancer is allowed to make four attacks as a Full Round Action. However, if she does choose so, all of her attacks take a -8 due to her unfamiliarity with them. Also, when selecting a feat such as Weapon Focus, the Blade Dancer must pick one of the weapons to gain it, meaning that the feat is not for all of her weapons. (Example: A Blade Dancer who's Primary Weapon is her Ankle Blades takes Weapon Focus - Ankle Blades, and gain the +1 to hit for them only, not her Wrist Blades). Also the Wrist Blades allow you to have your hands free but can't hold any other weapons.

Deflect ArrrowsAt Second level you gain Deflect Arrows even if you don't meet the requirements.

Multiattack: At third level, the Blade Dancer gains the feat Multiattack, although she is not a creature. If the Blade Dancer has taken Two Weapon Fighting or similar feats, they are removed from her list of feats and can be exchanged for new ones. From here on out, the Blade Dancer is counted as having Four (4) limbs to attack with. Her Primary 'Natural Attack' is what she picked at 1st level, and Secondary is everything else.

Multiweapon Fighting: At third level, the Blade Dancer gains Multiweapon Fighting as a bonus feat. If the Blade Dancer has Two Weapon Fighting, this feat replaces it, and Two Weapon Fighting cannot be exchanged for a new feat.

Evasion: At fourth level, the Blade Dancer gains Evasion

Dancer's Bonus: At fifth level, if the Blade Dancer's ranks in Perform (Dance)is higher than her Base Attack Bonus, she may use Perform (Dance) As he base attack bonus. However, it limits to following a Fighter equal to the level of the Blade Dancer's level. This 'Base Attack Bonus' cannot be used to take feats.

Quick Step: At fifth level, the Blade Dancer base speed is increased by 10 feet starting at level 5 and every 5 levels afterword.

Offense is the best defense At sixth level the Blade dancer losses their Dex modifier to AC and add it to their Attack.

Blade Replacement: At eight level, the Blade Dancer my replace the weapons on the limbs that are their Main Limbs. They may replace them with the blades of an Axe (1d6, x3), Shortsword (1d6, 19-20, x2), Shortspear Head (Hand only) (1d6, x2), Rapier (Hand Only) (1d6, 18-20, x2), Scimitar (Ankles Only) (1d6, 18-20, x2), or Heavy Pick head (Ankles Only) (1d6, x4)

Spring Attack At tenth level the blade dancer gains the feat Spring attack even if they don't meet the requirements.

Secondary Improvement: At eleventh level, the Blade Dancer may upgrade their secondary limb weapons from the list of their Blade Replacements.

Improved Multiweapon Fighting: At twelfth level, the Blade Dancer gains Improved Mutliweapon Fighting as a bonus feat.

Improved Multiattack: At twelfth level, the Blade Dancer gains Improved Multiattack as a bonus feat.

Weapon Specialization At fourteenth level the Blade dancer has become so accustom to there weapons they gain bonuses. If you specialized in the wrist blade you gain sneak attack as rouge. If you choose the Ankle blades then you gain flurry of blows as monk.

Second Improvement: At sixteenth level, the Blade Dancer upgrades her primary Limbs once more from the following weapons: Longsword (1d8, 19-20, x2), Warhammer (Ankle Only) (1d8, x3), Trident Head (Wrist Only) (1d8, x2), Scythe Blade (Ankle Only) (2d4, x4), Halberd Head (Wrist Only) (1d10, x3)

Greater Multiweapon Fighting: At seventeenth level, the Blade Dancer gains Greater Multiweapon Fighting as a bonus feat.

Second Secondary Improvement: At eighteenth level, the Blade Dancer may upgrade their secondary weapons with the list of weapons from Second Improvement.

Signature blows At nineteenth level the blade dancer gain Signature blows that can be used once per encounter. If you chose the Wrist blade you gain blade dash. This counts as a move action and you rush the enemy with one of your wrist blades and dealing 2d4 bleed damage. Also it stacks with run and sneak attack. If you choose the Ankle blade you gain high jump kick. You must make a Jump check. If successful you deal damage from one of your ankle blades and add 4d6 of damage. Also you cause a 2d4 of bleed damage. If you failed the jump check you are knocked prone.

Third Improvement: At twentieth level, the Blade Dancer may pick the following weapons to upgrade their weapons: Spiked Chain (2d4, x2), Greatsword (Ankle Only) (2d6, x2), Ranseur Head (Wrist Only) (2d4, x3)

Campaign Information[edit]

Playing a Blade Dancer[edit]

Religion: They prefer to rely on others then on a religion and many see it as something to distract them from there work.

Other Classes: Rogues, thief, assassin and martial based classes get along just well with the Blade Dancer. Monks rub the Blade dancer the wrong way and they have trouble working with them seeing there combat as brutish version of them.

Combat: Damage over Time. A Blade Dancer is meant to get in, deal damage to throw people's focus off, be it Archers, mages, or healers.

Advancement: Rogue is their primary choice. Secondary choices are Fighter and Barbarian.

Blade Dancers in the World[edit]

Daily Life: They are usually mercenaries and because of this are quite arrogant. Not only that they prefer to be in pairs from there training and hate to be alone but are still able to function.

Organizations: They are usually mercenaries of the wealthy or of crime bosses so they could be part of any Organizations they were hired at.

NPC Reactions: Many townsfolk react to the presence of a Blade Dancer with fear usually, due to their odd weapons, and possible fact that they could very easily escape the eyes of guardsmen, allowing the Blade Dancer weapons when they should not.

Blade Dancer Lore[edit]

Characters with ranks in Perform(Dance) can research Blade Dancers to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.
