Hey CK, so there was a race similarly based on the axolotl, but it got written off as kinda April Fools. So I'm really glad this will become a normal non-AF race. What do you plan on doing about the lore? Reading the history, I didn't get much of a sense as to where they came from or how they came to be. Were they native somewhere? As for society, how do axostome organize themselves in their habitats? Just some suggestions.--Yanied (talk) 19:48, 3 August 2019 (MDT)
:So my original idea was that they were native to the elemental plane of fire, hence referencing the Salamanders, but due to their once allies’ aggressiveness and, in my head at least, annoyance at their weakness and overall fear, the Salamanders betrayed them and nearly killed off all of the Axostomes. It was by luck, mostly, that these threatened people found a portal to the material plane, and over the decades to centuries of living there, evolved to live in this new world. However, I wanted to somehow make them sort of hermits in a way, based on the fact that axolotls are a critically endangered species, but I went with a sort of PTSD thanks to the Fire Snakes and Salamanders. That was the base I idea I had, so if you want to add to it, go right ahead, any feedback would be great!--CK (talk) 01:38, 4 August 2019 (EDT)
Axostome
The shy people that have a similarity to Axolotls.

Physical Description
Axostomes look very similar to axolotls, but are capable of standing upright, though with a slight hunch, on its hind legs. These shy people have smooth, tan or brown skin, but some rarer cases have white or even gold-colored skin. They don't have visible irises, making their eyes look all black, but, once looking in the right direction, their iris appears as dark shades of brown. Axostomes also have a fin running all the way down its back to the tip of their tails, and three pairs of external gill stalks which flay out when under water.

History
Axostomes used to be great allies of the Salamanders, Axostomes for recon while Salamanders went off for the actual fights, but their weakened spines, both literally and figuratively, led to the Salamanders betraying them and nearly wiping them out. after fleeing to the material plane, the Axostomes adapted to the water oceans rather than the lava ones, with the physical and mental scars of their past "allies" still fresh in their minds, even to the most recently born ones, with the nightmares of the slaughters seeped into their very souls.

Society
Most Axostomes don't enjoy being around others, even their own kind, always fearful of danger. They don't enjoy conflict, despite their regeneration, as both the damage and the regrowing shows years after the conflict that caused both. However, certain Axostomes decide to leave their cowering lifestyle in order to better protect themselves in case something unexpected were to happen, though this often leads to learning better ways to simply hide themselves.

Axostome Names
Axostomes usually choose simple names in Aquan mixed into common. These names usually are the names of things around their homes like water, pebbles, weeds, etc.
Uphold the Colony and drive out all that go against it; that is their goal, and this sometimes leads to many of their own being exiled at best, or executed at worst. The Bugfolk don’t discern male from female unless it’s finding a mate. For this reason, they often have names for both male and female members. They also follow their name with the name of the colony they came from, though those who were exiled might abandon it out of shame.
Physical Description
Bugfolk look like beetles, bees, wasps, spiders, and many other bugs, but the size of humans and standing upright on two legs. Other than those similarities, these people can look VERY different, from those looking like Stag Beetles to Yellowjackets to Wolf Spiders.

History
Society
Uphold the Colony and drive out all that go against it; that is their goal, and this sometimes leads to many of their own being exiled at best, or executed at worst. There is always a queen and/or king within a colony, who sets the laws of said colony, and they also choose who plays what role, similar to an actual insect colony.

Bugfolk Names
The Bugfolk don’t discern male from female unless it’s finding a mate. For this reason, they often have names for both male and female members. They also follow their name with the name of the colony they came from, though those who were exiled might abandon it out of shame.
Uphold the Colony and drive out all that go against it; that is their goal, and this sometimes leads to many of their own being exiled at best, or executed at worst. ==Axostome==

History
Axostomes used to be great allies of the Salamanders, Axostomes for recon while Salamanders went off for the actual fights, but their weakened spines, both literally and figuratively, led to the Salamanders almost wiping them out. after fleeing to the material plane, the Axostomes adapted to the water oceans rather than the lava ones, with the physical and mental scars of their past "allies" still fresh in their minds, even to the most recently born ones, with the nightmares of the slaughters seeped into their very souls.

Society
Most Axostomes don't enjoy being around others, even their own kind, always fearful of danger. They don't enjoy conflict, despite their regeration, as both the damage and the regrowing shows years after the conflict that caused both. However, certain Axostomes decide to leave their cowering lifestyle in order to better protect themselves in case something unexpected were to happen, though this often leads to learning better ways to simply hide themselves.

Physical Description
Axostomes look very similar to axolotls, but are capable of standing upright on its hind legs.
