Yomi was created from the void by the first god, Musubi, as her companion, and as such may have had some form of sentience. However, this did not mean it was similar to that of Musubi's. Everything in the universe was created from parts of Musubi and therefore can relate to each other in thinking, and in nature. Yomi was not and his thought patterns cannot be described with simple labels such as good or evil. Being a creature of darkness Yomi only strived to bring balance to the universe. When Musubi created the Material Plane, a bright light in the darkness, Yomi attempted to stretch what little light Musubi had created, into the infinite darkness, devouring the life sources of the inhabitants of the Material Plane in an attempt to equalize the consistency of the universe. For that, he was punished by Musubi, torn apart by her and his remains became the Polluted Realm (Shadowfell). He now is in a state of sleep like death, still in his slumber creating monsters in the Polluted Realm to drag the light that Musubi had created into the darkness.

Idols of Yomi often depict him as a shadowy figure covered in mouths. His true form is the representation of infinite nothingness and is enough to drive a normal mind insane.

Dogma[edit]

Followers of Yomi view the mortal realms and the planes of existences as unnatural abominations and curse Musubi from breaking the infinite tranquility that was present during the void. They would state that Musubi was selfish in creating a world and life just to relive her loneliness and strive to reduce the universe back into void, whether that is to break down counties, continents or even entire planes.

Clergy and Temples[edit]

Yomi is worshiped by very few most being creatures from the Polluted Realm though some fanatics do exist from the other mortal realms. Due to its dangerous philosophy and goal of destruction of the planes, many worshipers worship in secret to hide themselves from public eye.

Avatars[edit]

During times when the Polluted Realm is close to the Material Plane, Yomi's dreams sometime seep into the mortal world, unleashing shadow creatures and corrupted beasts into the night. Yomi's Avatar is sometime among them, a hooded figure who sucks the life force out of anywhere he touches.
