 Worst Luck
You seem to always fall short at the worst possible moment, right when it matters most.
Effect: Once per game session, you automatically fail a d20 roll of the DM's choosing. There is no way to reverse this decision, and you must accept the consequences. The DM, however, cannot make you fail a dice roll that will directly lead to your death (e.g. cannot automatically fail a save vs death or balance check that will drop you into a deep cavern.) However, indirect and other people's deaths are always welcome...
Special: If using a system that allows Action Points or some variant of the type, the player can spend a point to push back the effect. Doing this, however, does not eliminate it, it just delays the inevitable. It's best to just take your licks right away than to let it fester.
