Geographic Area[edit]

Whitebeach sits at the mouth of the Tyger River and Tyger Bay on the East Ocean. The Bridge City of Whitebeach covers six high-hills with steep slopes between them. Around Whitebeach on the north side of the Tyger River is two city walls of hard-white-stone.

Imports, Exports, and Resources[edit]

Whitebeach has abundant freshwater, wood, hard-gray-stone, hard-white-stone, with wheat fields with cows. Whitebeach has a variety of horses but is renowned from its domesticated forest elephants. It exports hard-white-stone, silk, gold, and silver. It imports iron from Sidereal; imports marble, black-stone, and pigs from Helmskeep; imports potatoes, copper, wool, and mountain furs from Bronze City. Whitebeach has a monopoly on white and black pearls.

The economy of Whitebeach is in ruins with the long war. Before the war, the average monthly wage was 3 gold pieces (the basic pay of the army). Now, the average monthly wage is 1 gold piece (the basic pay of the army). Before the war, magic items were more available as a market item in the major cities (most items of level 1 through 5). Now, the availability of magic items is rare. There are no magic item stores or merchants (only 1st level items are available, when a magic item can be found to buy).

History[edit]

Whitebeach founded by the Wizard Opheile (dedicated to Theezine the Fire God) the White Lady in 117 C.E. Fifty-five years later in 172 C.E., Whitebeach's Fortress and University are completed. Its distinctive feature is a large central tower of four faceless mages holding up a platform fifty feet above the streets, known as The White Tower (dedicated to Thechard the Stone God). Around it, equally spaced are five towers each fifty feet high with a network of bridges connecting all of them. Whitebeach is known as a city of bridges.

In 328 C.E., the five main cities, Sidereal, Helmskeep, Bronze City, Whitebeach, and Phobos form the United Five for mutual trade and defense. Fifty years later in 375 C.E., the evil Emperor Shaelong and an army of 25,000 invade.

In the aftermath of the invasion of Shaelong, Whitebeach had over 10,000 soldiers killed and 8,000 civilians dead. The cities of Manor Town and Eastly are destroyed. The towns of Watch Hill, Ladson, York, Union, Triville, Milltown, White, Tyger, Rock Hill, Manning, and Ladson are destroyed. Food production is down 80% and outside Whitebeach is a refugee camp of tents and plank-houses. The Knight Order of the Staff of the Orange Topaz School of Wizard is providing security for the refugee camp under the leadership of Dragonborn paladin Sthenelus Smile the Fire Breather. The White Tower (dedicated to Thechard the Stone God) is providing food and water. The refugee camp holds over 15,000 people.

Governing[edit]

In Whitebeach, the ruling council, known as the Council of Six, is made up of representative wizards (known as Councilors). The Council of Six is made up of one member of each of the six schools: The White Tower (dedicated to Thechard the Stone God), Orange Topaz School, Blue Sapphire School, Red-Fire-Opal School, Green Emerald School, and White Pearl School.

There is a 5 silver piece Whitebeach tax on all merchandise bought or sold, also there is a 5 silver piece Whitebeach gateway tax on all travel into all city's gates and a 10 silver piece Whitebeach dock traffic tax. There is a 1 gold piece ship docking fee. There is also a 5 silver piece mount tax, collected at the city's entrance/docks.

The law of the land is Five Pillars. The Five Pillars are the Pillar of Blood, Violence, Dishonesty, State, and Safety. The Five Pillars are often abbreviated into five short “do not” phrases hung on gates, walls, and signs: Do not kill others. Do not violate others. Do not be dishonest. Do not interfere with the state. Do not use magic here. Within the city walls, magic use is forbidden except by state approved users. The City Watch and army officers have arresting authority. City Watch officers, and Mages of the Whitebeach schools are judges, while each defendant can appeal to the ruling government. Within Whitebeach's city wall, no weapons are allowed, except by Whitebeach military.

Whitebeach's Culture[edit]
