[edit] The Answer

A deity is just a being who has come to accumulate enough power to control certain aspects of life. They have so much power that they have a HUGE ego, and they like it when that ego gets stroked. So they tell lesser beings that they are a god, and then those lesser beings start stroking the "Deity"'s ego for them. Eventually enough lesser beings start stroking this "Deity"'s ego that you have societies based on worshiping him. This is a problem because it's basically slavery.

[edit] The Solution

There is none. Beings will just keep attaining power, losing power, and enslaving others untill one finally controls every one else.

[edit] How do you fit into this

You might be thinking, "Well paul, if we can't stop it, why bring it up?" well I have my answer for that, you know how it won't end untill there is only one deity? That can be YOU. If your charismatic and have attained vast amounts of power you could easily become the master ruler. Now you may ask "Really paul, how can I do this, then?" well I don't know, if you can get those vast amounts of power then you figure it out mister/miss supreme entity.
