This is a WIP attempt to create a method of creation balanced spells both in and out of game, based on the Spheres of Magic system for Pathfinder. The idea is that all core spells can be more-or-less replicated, but without the issue of balance. Additionally, it can function as an in-game spell creation system, or even a method of creating new spells on the fly. Finally, it is planned to support a point-based casting system, as well as traditional Vancian casting (point values will determine its level).

Spheres[edit]

All magic is split into "spheres" which are base spell effects augmented by spell "talents" that determine the relative power of the spell effect. Each sphere belongs to one of the schools of magic, and talents may add the spell to another school of magic.

Magic Missile conjures a missile that deals 1d4+1 force damage. The caster creates 1 missile per 2 caster levels. Magic missile does not affect non-organic material.
