[edit] True Necromancer

Your petty magics of necromancy cannot match my powers, wizard. I'll show you the might of a true desciple of undeath.

[edit] Class Features

All of the following class features of the True Necromancer are:

Rebuke Undead(Su): True necromancer class levels stack with levels of all other classes that grant the ability to rebuke undead for the purpose of determining the character’s effective cleric level for rebuking. See Turn or Rebuke Undead, page 159 of the Player’s Handbook. For example, a 5th-level cleric/3rd-level sorcerer/2nd-level true necromancer rebukes undead as a 7thlevel cleric. The bonus from her necromantic prowess ability, once it is gained, also applies.

Create Undead (Sp): On attaining 2nd level, a true necromancer can cast create undead once per day, as the spell of the same name. She can use this ability one additional time per day at 5th level and higher. She must still supply the requisite material components. The true necromancer’s caster level equals her character level plus the bonus from her necromantic prowess ability, once it is gained.

Necromantic Prowess(Ex): At 3rd level, a true necromancer gains unsurpassed power over death. When she rebukes undead, casts a necromancy spell, or uses a spell-like ability that mimics a necromancy spell, her effective caster level or DC increases, whichever is chosen.

Zone of Desecration(Su): At 4th level, a true necromancer begins to exert her authority over undead. This aura is identical to the effects of the desecrate spell (see page 218 of the Player’s Handbook) except that it affects only allied undead.

Major Desecration (Su): At 7th level, a true necromancer extends her authority over undead. The supernatural aura of negative energy surrounding her (see Zone of Desecration, above) now extends to a radius of 10 feet per true necromancer class level.

Create Greater Undead (Sp): On reaching 8th level, a true necromancer can cast create greater undead (see page 215 of the Player’s Handbook) once per day, as the spell. She can use this ability one additional time per day at 11th level and higher. She must still supply the requisite material component. The true necromancer’s caster level equals her character level plus the bonus from her necromantic prowess ability.

Horrid Wilting (Sp): At 10th level and higher, a true necromancer can use horrid wilting once per day, with a caster level equal to her character level plus her bonus from the necromantic prowess ability.

Energy Drain (Sp): At 13th level and higher, a true necromancer can use energy drain once per day, with a caster level equal to her character level plus her bonus from the necromantic prowess ability.

Spellcasting: At each level, you gain new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known, if applicable) as if you had also gained a level in both spellcasting classes to which you belonged before adding the prestige class level. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If you had more than one divine and/or arcane spellcasting class before becoming a True Necromancer, you must decide to which class to add each level for the purpose of determining spells per day, caster level, and spells known.

[edit] Ex-True Necromancer

A True Necromancer that doesn't want to sustain his link to the negative energy cannot gain levels in the True Necromancer prestige class and loses all special abilities and any spells from the necromancy school of magic. and rub one off

Well, we take our food from the earth, in crops, and fruits. And when you need a sword, where do you get the steel? It doesn't fall from the sky does it? So it's safe to say that if I find something useful buried in the ground then I have a right to dig it up and make something of it don't I?!
—Memphis *No last name given*,Human,True Necromancer

Anywhere the dead can be found in abundance you will probably find a true necromancer or two kicking around. In times of war a king or noble may be visited by one offering their services in raising an undead army, an undertaker might go out to check the cemetery to find several graves mysteriously empty. The bottom line is they have incredible powers over the undead, and are not to be taken lightly.

NPC Reactions: Most NPCs will mistake a true necromancer for a normal necromancer, and will treat them as one. I.E. most good NPCs will become hostile, and most evil NPCs will react favorably. Though anyone fairly familiar with negative energy and magic will likely be able to tell the difference, I.E. Most good NPCs will become even more hostile, and most evil NPCs will be even more friendly, possibly even a little respectful. It is worth noting that at 4th level and higher True necromancers will emit an aura of desecration that may cause them to stand out if they go within a certain radius of any alter of a god *See the desecrate spell* If you are playing a True necromancer, NPCs will react to you roughly as noted above. It's recommended therefor that you don't walk around telling people what you are.
