The catfolk mercenary known as "Tanya" is a spellcasting prodigy among her people: she is able to channel her rage into her spells and fight at the same time. The only man who can calm her rage, Jamaal, says her anger is unfounded. In her mind, that just isn't so: her cruel mother named her after her childhood farting habit--Burning Wind--and the other children teased her mercilessly for it. She focused her abilities and left home, finding her way with people who will respect her for who she is, not who she was.
With her new name she now seeks to carve out a name for herself, starting with her mission as a bodyguard for the Imperial Ambassador, Hasimba ibn Sheitan al-Diablus.
