Talk:Two-Weapon Karmic Fighter (3.5e Optimized Character Build)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

This build does not make note of the big downside related to the Warmace, -1 to your AC! Presumably wielding 2 of them you would do your enhanced damage at the cost of 2AC! Then when you were enlarged you'd lose another AC. No Shield, -2 AC from weapons, -1 AC from Enlarged. Does this sound optimal? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs) 21:32, 16 November 2006 (MST). Please sign your posts!

I think this is part of the plan, in a roundabout way. Because each time the character is hit they get a AaO with both weapons, the character wants to get hit. Lower AC does just this, makes them get hit more so they can hit more. This idea of hitting as much as they get hit only works if they can deal lots of damage and have lots of health, and they can deal their damage with 2d12 warmaces, enlarge person, and Mighty Wallop, however health is a problem for this optimization. This may not be the best optimized build, but it does work if the character has a lot of health, and the AC does not need to be high for this to work. --Green Dragon 10:38, 17 November 2006 (MST)

In what books do I need to find some of this material so I can build this character? Flession 13:58, 18 March 2007 (MDT)

The Warmace, Karmic Strike, and Elusive Target are in the Complete Warrior. Double Hit is in the Miniatures Handbook. Also, you might want to peek in the PHB II for Robillard's Gambit (as a possible substitute for Karmic Strike), and a non-epic Two-Weapon Rend. —Sledged (talk) 20:39, 20 March 2007 (MDT)
I just added a table with the books that you stated above. Should the alternate options (that you also listed above) be included in this table? --Green Dragon 20:46, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

I'm thinking after you achieved 10th level, maybe you should Multiclass into a Barbarian and get some rage thrown into this combo. It increases your STR and CON, giving you more health, as well as it decreases your AC so you'll be hit more often, and good lord, they will regret that. Maybe even consider the variant in the PHB II that if you take 50% of damage, you go into a frenzy or something (Sorry, I don't have the book in front of me, I can't recall the exact name for it) Flession 08:24, 24 March 2007 (MDT)

This was added by an IP so please feel free to go ahead and make the changes you just mentioned :). I am sure this can be improved. --Green Dragon 11:45, 25 March 2007 (MDT)
Oh, good. Lemme think about it and I'll get back to you. Flession 13:35, 25 March 2007 (MDT)
Okay. --Green Dragon 13:36, 25 March 2007 (MDT)
I'm actually play testing this character in a campaign to see how it works. I'm thinking either Barb levels (RAAAAAGGGEEE!), Sorc levels (to increase its already impressive damage capacity), or continue with fighter and learn how to trip, sunder, or disarm (The character already meets the majority of the requirements. I'll post my findings as the game continues on. Flession 12:30, 28 March 2007 (MDT)
Dervish (Complete Warrior) and possibly tempest (Complete Adventurer). —Sledged (talk) 12:42, 28 March 2007 (MDT)
I just noticed actually that Dervish is not really worth it, as you need a slashing weapon in order to use it, and the Warmace is a bludgeoning weapon. Tempest, though, would be quite tempting.Flession 12:44, 28 March 2007 (MDT)
Try this: add four levels of psychic warrior—to get psionic lion's charge—and six more levels of fighter. Take the feats Deft Opportunist (gives +4 attack on AoOs; Complete Adventurer or MiniHB), Reckless Offense, Two-Weapon Rend (adds 1d6 + 1-1/2 Str bonus to damage if you hit a single opponent with both weapons; PHB II), Powerful Charge (Adds 1d8 to charge damage; MiniHB), Greater Powerful Charge (increases to 2d6; MiniHB), and Reckless Charge (+4 attack, −4 AC with charge; MiniHB), Power Attack, and Leap Attack (+100% the normal damage from Power Attack in a charge; Complete Adventurer). —Sledged (talk) 12:31, 29 April 2007 (MDT)
