Talk:Sugar Slime (5e Creature)

I was just wondering, unless I am misreading this, isn't the sugar slime a bit underpowered? It has a stated hit point number, no regeneration, and only resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing, which means just drop a mountain or two on it and it dies, or just send a few armies to attack it and watch it fall. At least for the CR, this monster seems underpowered, all monsters at this level of power ignore non-magical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage, and most also are resistant to the magical forms, this creature has no such defense, and its AC isn't even over 20. A half-way competent magic user or ranged attacker above level 15 should be able to kill this creature themselves, the only way this creature is a real threat is if the characters have limited movement, no information on the creature, no means of ranged attacking, and no time to plan an attack. Despite how this might read, I like the idea of this creature, it's just that it has even more glaring weaknesses then the Monster Manual's Tarrasque and I wouldn't want an interesting creature like this to go to waste. --Ancient artifact

Most creatures have all of their ability scores below 20, having an ability score of 20 or higher is rare, having more than one ability score above 20 is even rarer and reserved for high CR creatures like the balor or pit fiend. Not to mention the fact that it resists three of the most common types of damage in the game and is immune to all the other damage types and almost all of the conditions except restrained, oddly, considering it is made of formless ooze. Also, the CR is comically high and the Engulf action option needs fixing and not even the tarrasque deals damage using the d20 or has an attack that can target multiple creatures and a reach of 80 feet is good for a ranged attack, absurd for a melee attack. I apologize.[edit]

I am a bit new to creating creatures. My idea for the Sugar Slime, as it says in the DM Side Note, that it should only be used if you want to kill off the entire party. my original thought was to make it so nothing can hurt it, which is why I tried to make it immune to all conditions and magical attacks, but based on what was said, I failed at that. If you could be so kind as to either tell me what o fix, or fix it yourself, that would be much appreciated. I want this thing to be a massive party killer. It was also originally supposed to be unbeatable, but the site kept yelling at me about balance, so I added in the Sword Of The Night, the only weapon to harm the Sugar Slime and save it's wielder. I did create a page for the weapon as well. the reason why envelop is listed as a melee is because it's just that big. it envelops the party with it's body as it moves.

Another point was that it's AC isn't over twenty. The way I was always taught to play, the AC never went over 20. That's just user error.
