Prepared/spontaneous categorization[edit]

I can't decide whether to put this in the spontaneous caster category or the prepared caster category, neither, or both. Any suggestions? --Daniel Draco 12:59, 8 December 2007 (MST)

Right now it really does not matter since searching is the only way either of those categories are accessible, however, I think, if one must be chosen, that Prepared Cater would work better. --Green Dragon 23:05, 10 December 2007 (MST)
I'd say both, the spells prepared aren't expended when you cast them. —Sledged (talk) 17:11, 24 January 2008 (MST)

Template Help[edit]

Spelldreams Prepared (CL 25th):
1st (3/day each)
Spell A (DC X), Spell B (DC X), Spell C (DC X)
Spell D (DC X), Spell E (DC X), Spell F (DC X)
0 (4/day each)
Spell G (DC X), Spell H (DC X), Spell I (DC X)
Spells Known (CL 25th):
1st—charm person (DC 19), color spray (DC 19), comprehend languages, identify, sleep (DC 19), floating disk, true strike
0—detect magic (3), ray of frost (+32 ranged touch)

I want to make at least one somnoccultist NPC to put on the wiki, but none of the spellcasting and pseudo-spellcasting templates for use on NPC pages really fit the way spelldreams work. I, personally, just end up staring blankly at the screen when I try to make a usable template for it myself, so if anyone can help me with making one (be it making one yourself or helping me to make one) it would be greatly appreciated. --Daniel Draco 13:44, 22 January 2008 (MST)

Do you have an idea of how you want it displayed? Can you modify the table I inserted to try and show it? —Sledged (talk) 16:09, 24 January 2008 (MST)
Done. That was the best way I could come up with that showed them grouped into spelldreams. --Daniel Draco 16:36, 24 January 2008 (MST)
I think I can work with that. —Sledged (talk) 17:11, 24 January 2008 (MST)
Done. —Sledged (talk) 13:06, 6 February 2008 (MST)
Thank you so much, looks great :) --Daniel Draco 18:08, 6 February 2008 (MST)

Bonus Spells[edit]

It says it doesn't get bonus spelldreams from a high ability score, but nothing about bonus spells. —Sledged (talk) 17:11, 24 January 2008 (MST)

Well it prepares spelldreams rather than individual spells, and the number of spells in a spelldream is a fixed 3, so I figured people would infer that they don't get bonus spells either. Apparently I was wrong, so I'll change it to clear that up. --Daniel Draco 17:16, 24 January 2008 (MST)

Feedback[edit]

I plan on making a few prestige classes for the somnoccultist, but before I do so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for improvements. I do want to keep the basic spellcasting mechanic, but spells per spelldream, spelldreams per day, etc. could be tweaked if need be. So, any suggestions? --Daniel Draco 08:55, 1 February 2008 (MST)

I feel like the spell casting is rather weak, considering they never gain more than four spells per spell level per day. I think that bonus spelldreams for high ability scores should be allowed. <Enialis 14:12, 22 June 2011 (MDT)

Are You Planning on Finishing This?[edit]

See title. It could use a description and the ripping out of the bottom parts of the preload, as well as internal links. Surgo 23:47, 4 April 2009 (MDT)

Yes, it's on my list of things to do. I usually put in flavor text after balancing, so it's partly that I'm waiting on feedback. --Daniel Draco 01:08, 5 April 2009 (MDT)
Looks fine to me. Surgo 23:03, 9 April 2009 (MDT)
