Musicus Meter
Score: 5.5-6
This race has a score of 5.5-6 according to the Musicus Meter race guidelines. With this metric, first-party races' scores range from 4.5 to 8. This is a guideline, not a rule, and it's important to use your own judgment alongside this scoring.
This scoring may be the groundwork for a focused {{needsbalance}} usage. A contributor to this page may request a detailed breakdown of this page's balance. Without this information, {{needsbalance}} may then be removed. This meter cannot be the sole basis for a needsbalance template, but may be included as an accessory to a wider discussion of a race's balance.
This template should only be placed on a race's talk page. If this template is not placed on the talk page, please move it.

Featured Article Nomination[edit]

Yes check.svg.png — This article became a featured article! Geodude671 Chatmod.png (talk

Doooooooh I can't wait any longer, I have to give nominating this a shot.

Anyways, I believe Sobruaros deserve to be a featured article because they have fairly unique gameplay mechanics, a somewhat original concept, fleshed out lore and fluff, plus original artwork created specifically for this race. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Varkarrus (talkcontribs) . • Comment. I feel like this page is too new to be a FA at this point. The Featured Article criteria recommends 3 weeks to a month without any major changes or debate, and this page is only about a week old. It's a well-written page, though, and if a couple weeks pass without any major changes to the page, I'll happily support it at that point. — Geodude671 Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 14:07, 29 January 2018 (MST)
    • Fair enough! I was hoping not waiting that long wouldnt bite me in the butt but I'll count this as a vote in favor once a few more weeks pass. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Varkarrus (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.
    • Are you going to change your comment to a Support / Oppose vote now? (08:33, 12 February 2018 (MST))
  • Comment. While the race is unique, my thoughts mirror Geodude671's on this race being too new. I also believe the race needs to be combed through for improper wording and capitalization as race names are not capitalized and subrace names are, among the race having a few other wording problems. The race also needs to specify how a reaction is activated in the Poison Protection feature and it needs more links to the SRD(The Dash action, the rules on jumping, ect).--Blobby383b (talk) 14:29, 29 January 2018 (MST)

    • Varkarrus, why did you sign a new user's support for this FA and edit their user page?--Blobby383b (talk) 23:48, 13 February 2018 (MST)
      • Varkarrus, please answer Blobby383b's question. This is very serious. Quincy (talk) 11:38, 14 February 2018 (MST)
        • Sorry. Haredrier is a friend of mine who wanted to support the Sobruaro. I told him how to support the page but he put the signature on the main page instead of the talk page by mistake. I moved it for him. -Varkarrus (12:08, 14 February 2018 (MST))
          • Your story checks out. Sorry for bothering you. Quincy (talk) 12:13, 14 February 2018 (MST)
            • Nah, it's okay. I understand. -Varkarrus (12:14, 14 February 2018 (MST))
  • Comment. Yo, Vark! As I said above, I love how the race turned out! I'm gonna wait like everyone else before voting though. I can't wait to see how it is in the future, though! :) --EpicBoss99 (talk) 18:50, 29 January 2018 (MST)
    • Are you going to change your comment to a Support / Oppose vote now? (08:33, 12 February 2018 (MST))
    • I still feel like there are a few grammatical errors that need to be addressed (mainly commas used in excess). Once that and Green Dragon's questions are taken care of, I'll most likely support! :) --EpicBoss99 (talk) 23:35, 13 February 2018 (MST)
  • Oppose — I feel that this race doesn't meet FA standards. It should be run through the details outlined in the Featured_Articles page again. In addition, the traits I feel are oddly done/written. Pricky's largely negligible damage becoming magical being one of them. --ConcealedLight (talk) 09:54, 11 February 2018 (MST)
    • Prickly doesn't deal ANY damage. I only mentioned it as becoming magical for the purposes of fluff and explaining why it overcomes some immunities it didn't before. The point of Prickly is exclusively resistance to being grappled. (10:37, 11 February 2018 (MST)~)
      • Was confusing it with something me and Vark were discussing some time ago. What makes them magical in the first place? Since my example proved to be poor I will provide a few more. The race has its own language but doesn't specify anything about it or what script it uses if at all. Another being that it doesn't adhere to the Help:When to Italicize and Capitalize, and another being that the wording for long rest is incorrect. --ConcealedLight (talk) 12:48, 11 February 2018 (MST)
  • Support. The mechanics and lore are great. The racial features are very interesting and fill a unique niche (I especially like the poison protection feature). Plus, it's a pleasant surprise to find a race that's characterized as being cheerful and happy instead of lolgrimdark. Quincy (talk) 10:09, 11 February 2018 (MST)
  • Support. Echoing what I and Quincy said above, it's a well-written and unique page, and would definitely make a at the very least decent FA. — Geodude671 Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 09:34, 12 February 2018 (MST)
  • Comment. Here are some questions I have.
    • What does "Many female sobruaros can grow a flower on top of their head, but there are as many who can't as there are men who can." even mean? And why does the flower not grow from their vines/hair?
    • What is "watery" blood? Blood with H20? And shouldn't their bodily fluids be green like a cactus's water?
    • The history should describe the transformation into a cactus. I would actually use the words pre-evolved Sobruaro here, and also explain how the pre-evolved Sobruaro spread. Was it the curse or pollen?
    • Check this page for an abbreviated "would". I saw she'd, who'd slice, etc. This is an incorrect use of the apostrophe, since its correct to say "who sliced".
    • Check for multiple uses of "and" in a sentence. These become run-on sentences after a single use of the word "and".
    • Explain their society's golden rule, since this has a lot of importance being placed in all sorts of campaigns.
    • Why does this page say that all Sobruaro have pieces of the old wizard living in them, but then that their royalty are reincarnations of her? The cult/regrowth/religion aspects of these two contradictory points should be clarified.
    • What is a "societal exception"? Does this carry over to the golden rule too, or just stay with gender roles?
    • Why does alcohol not effect the Sobruaro, but coffee does? Is their a biological reason, since otherwise many players will not be able to roleplay this too well.
    • I would get rid of the Poison Protection feature, since its very powerful and does not adequately deal with alcohol/poison.
    • There needs to be more than one subrace, if at all.
    • If you want to use a large size, then use {{Design Note}}.
    • Add any and all links that you can.
Once my questions are answered, this should be good to go. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:15, 13 February 2018 (MST)
Should be all good, now! There's always been two subraces of Sobruaro, though: standard and royal. I hope I explained everything else adequately. Kinda sad about having to get rid of Poison Protection, but such is life. (08:53, 14 February 2018 (MST))
I agree that my questions have been answered. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:28, 15 February 2018 (MST)
  • Support — The race has finally gotten to the point where I can wholeheartedly say that I support this race to become a featured article. It is a well thought out race with a unique and interesting background that delivers on user's who want to create a cacti race.--Blobby383b (talk) 16:36, 15 February 2018 (MST)
  • Support. I had hope for this race as soon as it was made. While there were some points that needed to be fixed, it's now at a really good place to be an FA. Good flavor, VERY well-balanced, and satisfyingly light-hearted (arguably my favorite part of the race). I am in full support of this race becoming an FA! Congrats, Vark! :) EpicBoss99 (talk) 17:45, 15 February 2018 (MST)
  • Support. This page is good enough to become a featured article. I, or someone else, may succeed this featured article nomination. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:28, 15 February 2018 (MST)
Please do! (Varkarrus (talk) 08:00, 16 February 2018 (MST))

Test[edit]

I made one of these have a really bad and "prickly" attitude. Has worked out as the NPC dad to the team. And an angry one at that. Cheers again!--Cransiosis (talk) 03:40, 10 April 2019 (MDT)
