A lot of the things in this are very overpowered, like the fact that you have an AC of at least 14, and you basically have Extra Attack with your claws (something many classes get at level 5), and the whole pounce that never misses and instantly kills things smaller than you based on a Strength save. Put a hit point requirement on that so you can't instakill just by being stealthy. Plus, the subraces get feats. SirSprinkles (talk) 20:10, 18 May 2016 (MDT)

It's been a week since I flagged this page, I think it may have been a hit-and-run contribution. I'm not sure what to do with this, the description is weak, there's the issues you mentioned, and the weapon/armor restriction makes it interact poorly with class choice. I think something can be salvaged, here. You're right in that it was very likely a hit-and-run contribution, but that doesn't mean we can't make it work. Quite obviously the issues mentioned above that are clearly overpowered will need to be reduced to a more balanced and playable state, nevermind correcting all the spelling errors. --Exodite-Dragon (talk) 12:07, 30 September 2016 (MDT)

Removing the Tag[edit]

So I feel the race is done and I am thus removing the tag. The following are my departing thoughts:

  • The Bite and Claw feature isn't a normal unarmed strike. It's more like a special attack with quite some requirements (needing to grapple (with no strength bonus!), then make an attack roll, phew!) so I don't think it throws the balance off-kilter too much. It also deals less damage on maximum than a dragonborn's breath and is limited to melee. It also has a use limitation unlike a normal unarmed strike, so I think this is fine as it is.
  • The low-light vision was mainly me trying to make it a bit stronger or clarify how it sees in dim light exactly. Mighta been a mistake, but oh well.
  • Pack Rush is basically a once-a-long-rest pack tactic that can be baton passed to another ally. I feel the use limitation should help a bit with balancing. --Yanied (talk) 20:39, 1 October 2019 (MDT)
