(I believe the cost should be much greater, if not only for the greater benefits over normal mithril, yeah 2x the base of mithril cost for armors is a good start but I believe if it increases dex by 5 that puts a chain shirt at +4 ac, +9max dex which is a bit insane for the 2,000gp additional. Either Lower the max dex down to 4 (which would be double of the normal mithril) or multiply the base price of normal mithril by 10 to represent exactly how rare it is. Other wise, good work)) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Riken (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

(One might also propose removing the increased HP and Hardness and then pricing the armor at more expensive than Adamantine.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.101.3.121 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

< Oh my god, I have not seen anything this broken since my brother decided to make "Diamond Daggers", which they require some sort of "Extraplanar Proficiency" in order to wield those overbroken doom weapons. I mean, you'd think he'd be sane? Nope, he's got ADHD and ODD.> —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BobThePally (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

this is homebrew, i thought that removing said comments above was reasonable as this is not a forum, and there is no documentation for it being wizards of the the coast as corrected here in saying it is in fact completely homebrew as black mithril is in the book magical items compendium but unclear at best, i have also somewhat balanced the price I believe yay.

I haven't got a copy of that book. Can you confirm that the text of this page appears in Magic Items Compendium? Marasmusine (talk) 00:30, 30 March 2013 (MDT)
I think I have a copy I can check it out. To my small library! Tivanir (talk) 11:40, 30 March 2013 (MDT)
negative this does not appear in the magic item compendium. That is actually a good thing so we don't have to worry about copyrights. Tivanir (talk) 13:46, 30 March 2013 (MDT)
First of all, might I propose "Myrnral" as an official name (like illithid vs mind flayer), or the alternate spellings Myrnril, Mornril, or Mornral? {mith-ril grey-brilliance. myrn-ril black-brilliance). For balanceing, how about changing it so that, compared to true mithral, black mithral has 1 higher max Dex bonus, half again the weight, spell check minus another 10%, and DR similar to adamantine, but overcome by adamantine. armor chek penalty is the same (after a certain point, no matter how light the armor is it will get in your way/restrict your range of motion just as much). Also, cost could be 4(mithral price for item +adamantine price for item). --Salasay Δ 13:34, 22 January 2014 (MST)
The name change would be fine by me. I changed the dex bonus to 1 higher removed the AC boost in favor of a static 1/- DR reduced spellcheck to +10 (might change it to +15 but I am looking at the balance first.), AC check I kept at 4 (regular mithril is 3. as a side note I know people who can do cartwheels in platemail as long as they take their helmet off.) And I decreased the cost to Mithril + Adamantite. It progresses at +8k because the higher levels of it does not increase the DR like adamantite. Tivanir (talk) 08:50, 23 January 2014 (MST)
Name Change: Was the second r left out of Myrnril intentionally? Myrnril is a combination of two Sindarin (a dialect of Tolkien Elvish) words, like Mithr(i/a)l. If the second r is left out, it removes that nerd bonus for people who are well educated about LotR and makes the nameing a little weaker. Also, personally I would leave the Wiki Name as Black Mithral, but refer to it throughout the text as Myrnril. That way it is immediately obvious that it is some form of mithral alloy or something. I'm fine with leaving it as Myrnril, though. But I do think that the second r should be added. Good balanceing, though. --Salasay Δ 13:08, 23 January 2014 (MST)
