Nice[edit]

I love this. I've always liked the thri-kreen, and this is a great way to modify them. Bravo, young sir. Bravo.

P.S. get this fixed up and it would make a good featured article. You've got the flavor for it, it just needs some polishing and maybe balancing, I don't really 5e so I don't know balance.--Salasay Δ 10:03, 22 December 2014 (MST)

Thank you

That means alot to me it really dose. I like getting constructive feed back and thank you for the grammer and spelling fixes I have never been good at ethier. As for trems of balance that really depends who the DM is, but i feel its a good start. Hexus535 (talk)

Change

Ok I have had some time to play test with these guys using them in my games as players, NPS, and enemies. The only issues any one had with the race was the Scara-Kreens crazy armor, so I have reworked their Thick Carapace abilaty. I still want the Scara-Kreen to have good armor but for it to build over time. I feel this change accomplish that and brings them to a more balanced level for play. Hexus535 (talk)

Some Things[edit]

  • The venomous bite has some extra stuff tacked onto it, like finesse and proficiency... even though I think unarmed strikes have automatic proficiency? Ok, it's actually listed as a natural weapon and doesn't use the term unarmed strike... but it should. It could benefit from being split a bit like lizardfolk's bite and hungry jaws for a recharge effect, honestly. Because it doesn't have the unarmed strike language, this lacks the range.
  • Multiple arms needs a bit more of the restrictions, like with multiple shield wielding. For an example, see Marilith (5e Race)
  • Vicious claws is another natural weapon lacking the unarmed strike language... despite clearly being an unarmed strike, I think? This is also a scaling unarmed strike... it's not terribly overpowered since it is about the same as a cantrip, but then it shouldn't be an unarmed strike or it runs into the issue of steamrolling monk's unarmed... And, because it doesn't have the unarmed strike language, this lacks the range.
  • Burrowing needs a bit of a nerf since underground movement grants you pretty much complete cover. It should be restricted in use like how the Rakaka (5e Race) is worded.
  • The carapace trait is very poorly worded compared to official unarmored defenses... How do you damage it? Does it have HP? The penalties listed seem to be requiring something like maiming or limb loss rules... and this isn't very clear.
  • Fly is interestingly worded to try and be balanced. 20 minutes sounds arbitrary compared to the usual time advancement of 1 minute->10 minutes->1 hour...
  • Venomous stings could benefit from a rewrite since it looks a bit cluttered without standard wording. I think its also worth a big note that you don't get the base venomous bite with this subrace. I'm also a bit confused why this DC uses your wisdom score. Wouldn't your toxins be dependent on your own body (constitution)?--Yanied (talk) 20:00, 15 February 2024 (MST)
