This is nitpicking, more a symptom of my OCD than anything else, but when we're talking about flaked stone, there are different traits for different rocks. For example, Flint needs to be heated to work, but it is hard to break, while obsidian sharpens itself as it breaks, but it breaks often. Stones like Daycite are the closest thing I can think of to what you are describing. I would think this would be even more useful if there were seperate sections of different stones, since you can't expect flint to behave like obsidian, or even other varaities of flint.
As for the constant damage of the weapon, if the weapon is sufficently small (less than 3 inches), it should be fine as long as the user doesn't hit anything metalic. Perhaps a character could take a weapon proficiency in it to prevent damage to the weapon?

- Nitpicking is fine, as long as you admit it up front. :)
- "Flaked Rock" is a simplification. I could go into great detail on the types, but the actual game affects would be rather minor. This article represents the "pulp fiction" version of flaked rock. - Ok, that makes more sense. The only reason I'd really bring this up is because in one champaign I've been in, we actually ended up using stone weapons, and our DM, who is a 18 lvl Geek, actually made a clear difference between different stones.
