Template:Description Needed[edit]

Where would Template:Description Needed go? --Green Dragon 09:48, 26 March 2007 (MDT)

Right under ===Making a [class name]===. Armond 15:29, 26 March 2007 (MDT)
Okay... However, doesn't "Playing a --classname--", , the "Human --classname-- Starting Package", "--classname-- Lore", and "--classname-- in the Game" all fall under the purpose of this template? Should this template be put in multiple spots, or is it being just on the top good enough? --Green Dragon 20:13, 26 March 2007 (MDT)
The less the templates clutter up the page, the better. In my mind, at least, if such a template is put on top of the page, it applies to the whole page; if a section, the whole section; and if a subsection, then only the subsection. Assuming I'm following common sense (which I'll freely admit that I might not be), the same logic would occur to others as well. If not, then perhaps it should be placed multiple times - though I would think that unnecessary, and especially so if all but one subsection needs the description (and thus it's placed five times instead of one at the top of the section). I'd think if it applies to the whole section, editors can figure out that one subsection is good already. Armond 23:32, 26 March 2007 (MDT)
Your logic does hold, the only problem is that the use of this template is broken up into two areas. The first one is under "Making a Druid" and the other is at the bottom of the page under "Playing a Druid" onward. So, should this template just be used on the top part, both parts, or just the bottom part? --Green Dragon 22:43, 27 March 2007 (MDT)
This is the part where Template:Section Description Needed would come in handy. For its use: Does it apply to all of making a druid, or just the class features/animal companion? If only one, throw it under that header; of both, throw it under the making a druid header. As for playing a druid, throw it under the playing a druid header and call it a day. I'm going to go make said template now. Armond 15:14, 29 March 2007 (MDT)
Good idea with the Template:Section Description Needed. I modified it so their is less wording however a very good idea. Also, do you think it is okay with where all the Description Needed templates currently are or should some be moved/changed to the non-section template? --Green Dragon 23:24, 29 March 2007 (MDT)
I like the idea of Template:Section Description Needed, but only if there are only one or two sections that need help, and the rest is good. Otherwise, I'd rather see one template at the beginning (or end), and stop pestering the reader. --Cúthalion 20:09, 2 April 2007 (MDT)
Hm... How about Template:Section Description Needed at the top (under Druid or Making a Druid) and then Template:Description Needed under Playing a Druid. Do you think that would make it better and less annoying? --Green Dragon 14:14, 5 April 2007 (MDT)
New idea — please tell me what you think of it. What I did is put Template:Description Needed at the bottom where Template:Stub and Template:Wikify go. Then in all the little description sub-sections I put Template:Section Description Needed. Do you think it looks better like this or worse? --Green Dragon 13:30, 9 April 2007 (MDT)
I still think it's overkill on the Template:Section Description Needed banners. And because I think they're overkill, I made them stand out even more. :) --Cúthalion 16:04, 9 April 2007 (MDT)
Maybe the background color on them should be changed back to white? I think white made it not stand out as much... --Green Dragon 13:33, 10 April 2007 (MDT)
That's certainly true. What it does is highlight how there are way too many of those banners on the page. However, I'll change it back. Even if there were only one, it draws too much attention to itself, imho. --Cúthalion 13:13, 12 April 2007 (MDT)
For the record, I'm always in favor of templates like stub and description needed being at the top. If the majority of the thing needs a description, use template:description needed. If not, use template:section description needed. When in doubt (or if it's really close), err on the side of "description needed" instead of "section description needed" because the more templates there are, the more it "pesters the reader" as Cúthalion said. Simplify, simplify. (Kudos if you know who said that.) Armond 14:54, 12 April 2007 (MDT)
