Useless[edit]

As a question of interest, what is the point of this ritual other then being a useless waste of money. So you create a minion zombie? That will be useless to you at level 11. Ritauls arn't really that useful as it is.ShadowyFigure 03:22, 25 May 2009 (MDT)

Also remember Rituals are not supposed to create "in combat" spells or effects. That is why the Undead Servitor Ritual in Open Grave creates a non-combatant. It is believed that in the PHB4 the Necromancer will have a Summoning power that creates an Undead "pet". I see the intent, but this Ritual is unbalanced. -- Sepsis 09:51, 25 May 2009 (MDT)
Unless of course necromancet is absorbed by Divine in the PHB 3, which could be interesting and also unlikely. I geuss the combat application could be the reason behind the high price however, even if it has little combat application when a player has access to it. Another way you could do it is keep the price the same but maybe not jsut have single zombie rotter, maybe a custom made swarm of zombies for that price? This still doesn't dodge the fact that rituals are not meant to be made for combat situations, and are not nescessary for NPCs as you jsut say well they did blah blah ritual and have zombies. Yeah I guess you're right. I'm just trying to add a little necromancy for players. Aboleth11 08:23, 26 May 2009 (MDT)

I definitely wouldn't consider this ritual unbalancing, given the capability of a zombie rotter, and personally I don't thik it matters that it breaks the mold of rituals being non-combat only if its not that combat-effective, or cost-effective. I would definitely suggest doing something like the Ranger Beastmaster build for necromancy, maybe allowing one undead pet or a group of 4 undead minions. I haven't gotten to take a detailed look at the beastmaster rules, so I can't give any deeper advice than that. But anyway, no, I don't consider this ritual broken. Ineffective, if anything. As far other rituals being useless, I have to strongly disagree with that statement, but whatever. Also, isn't the ranger pet obtained through a ritual?

Just because the rotter is weak it doesn't make it balanced, it makes it weak and pointless. Their is more then just overpower as an imbalance yah know ShadowyFigure 01:44, 29 May 2009 (MDT)
