What is it that you want this to do that the existing archetypes don't do? Marasmusine (talk) 15:33, 12 February 2015 (MST)

What I am trying to make is a swordsman that use the wind itself to with his strikes. Azernath (talk) 09:15, 19 March 2015 (MDT)

The bonus damage wouldn't be force (which is "pure magical energy"). The best fit for buffeting wind is bludgeoning.
Also I'm not sure I like the idea of a greatsword being treated like a finesse weapon. Marasmusine (talk) 03:14, 20 March 2015 (MDT)

I agree w/ Maras, Wind is bludgeoning, or also slashing(depending on dimensional plane of the wind gust). If your trying to pair wind elements with fighting, might I suggest an ability that speeds up the warrior's movement? or possibly basing klass off of Sufi whirling of the Turkish Dervishes, throw in a cyklone effekt for posterity and you may have something. Khimaera

And personally, as a long-time DM, I would never allow great weapons of any kind to be treated w/ finesse, even versatile is subjektively questionable. Again, I agree w/ Maras.... didn't see tht there before :p

So If I want to make wind attacks, what is the damage type? Azernath (talk) 17:18, 27 April 2015 (MDT)

When I imagine a wind-based warrior, I imagine two types: One being the agile airbender-style guys that use a one handed weapon and focus on small uses of wind to fight with a kind of fluidity and hit and run tactics. The other is a two handed warrior and focuses on using wind to charge an enemy and make his weapon travel faster and hit harder but this also puts him at a disadvantage after the attack because his weapon's momentum is too great and is probably stuck in the enemy/ground. The two might share some wind-based magic (tornado, feather fall, etc). --Twisted9 (talk) 21:35, 27 April 2015 (MDT)

So no special type of damage, but only wind effect. Azernath (talk) 21:58, 27 April 2015 (MDT)

A few things:

  • Unguarded Protection. I do not know if you intend this to work with shields or not (as written, it doesnt). It's quite possible for a Fighter to have, on average, +4 in Str, Dex and Con modifiers, so this will provide AC 22. This is better than the most heavily armored fighter, and it's better than the barbarian's unarmed defense - and this is really the barbarian's "thing".
  • Critical Strike. A creature is usually already gone, or nearly dead, by the time a character gets a 5th strike on it. So this mark doesn't do much. It doesn't say what the extra damage is. The feature needs renaming or people will expect something to do with critical hits. Why not just let them cast hunter's mark a few times per day? What is blink flash?
  • Flash Step. Describe what is actually happening rather than "teleporting". The character moves 60 feet and is invisible during the move. I'm not sure how the "At 10th level" sentence ties in with flash step.
  • Why say "attack your closest enemy as long as it is within melee attack range from you" when you can say "make a melee attack"? You also do not need to say "once per turn", since you only get one reaction per turn anyway. You sneak in an extra feature at 14th level.
  • Storm Burst. This doesn't seem like a reaction. The wording needs overhauling, please look at other line or cone attacks in the PHB. This is also a very powerful thing to have at-will.
  • Tornado. When do nearby creatures make their saving throw? How much damage is caused? Marasmusine (talk) 01:56, 29 August 2015 (MDT)
I have changed the Unguarded Protection to make it Protective Blade. What do you think? Azernath (talk) 10:21, 17 November 2015 (MST)
Sorry for the late reply. As weapons do not have an "attack modifier", I'm not sure how protective blade is supposed to work. I think it is an interesting idea, though. It should be clear that this is not like a parry (which work more like a damage reduction). Marasmusine (talk) 03:21, 11 February 2017 (MST)
I'm rewriting this for you.
Example of a change:
"once a turn you can spend your reaction to make a weapon attack. attack your closest enemy as long as it is within melee attack range from you. You can activate this ability as soon as an enemy come within the weapon reach. "
becomes:
"You make opportunity attacks against hostile creatures that enter your reach."
This does exactly the same thing, I wonder if you can spot why? Marasmusine (talk) 03:54, 11 February 2017 (MST)
I modified level 10 feature. As it was, I think the archetype could dash and get multiple attacks on their turn. Hopefully this works for everyone and seems fair now. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 08:04, 18 October 2017 (MDT)
