Avariel vs Elf[edit]

This class has everything a normal elf has and wings, I'd say change something. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.189.53.27 (talkcontribs) 14:56, 6 July 2008 (MDT). Please sign your posts.

I feel that a flying elf is change enough, although what do you think could be changed/improved? --Green Dragon 15:14, 6 July 2008 (MDT)

Not the original poster, but I'd say these fit the "Elf" thing well enough. I don't like elves in general, because they are just SO precious and shiny and perfect, but I think this Race is okay. It just has some balancing issues in the actual gameplay bits is all. (As a DM, I wouldn't let my players use this).

Level Adjust[edit]

Should probably be LA 1 or 2. The 40ft perfect fly and a net +2 attribute bonus is too good for having no drawbacks.--Mrwest13 10:32, 5 December 2008 (MST)

Like a penalty to AC because of the wings. They're easy targets.

it is also easier to maneuver aloft

Just adding on here: I think you need to either bump the LA up to 3 or 4, or get rid of the super-eyesight and Move Silently. Flying on its own is very powerful, and PERFECT maneuverability with 40 ft speed is unheard of. That would be worth LA +1 on its own, while the net ability bonus I wouldn't worry too much about. maybe have just Good maneuverability.

Alignment[edit]

This should probably be changed because ALL elves are chaotic. Most are chaotic good, and the drow are chaotic evil. Also, the fact that the Avariel are isolationists would lend even more credibility to a chaotic alignment as they're rejecting civilization. --Ninja lord666 19:37, 11 June 2009 (MDT)
