[edit] Welcome to Steampunk

The year is 1882. Decades earlier, in 1847, Charles Babbage had done what his contemporaries considered impossible and successfully constructed his difference engine, creating what was, in effect, the first computer. After this success, further developments were made and the first display was constructed in 1859. This consisted of rapidly spinning wooden blocks, painted red, green and blue. All the while, the tensions between North and South were growing to a fever pitch, both sides quickly amassing as much weaponry and technological knowledge as they could. Finally, at the apex of their tensions, the war broke out and was over in six months. Both armies had all but massacred each other, and neither side could gather any more recruits for what was considered a mad bloodbath. In the tumultuous aftermath, the heroes emerge. Uncertain of the future, they try their best to forget the past...
