- Note: This weapon is closely based off the Hexagun and is still under work*
A Soulgun is a revolutionary invention that allows a person to fire small projectiles, or pure psionic energy. it requires constant attention to its inner workings in order to function properly every time, as jamming and misfiring can occur if used incorrectly.
The Soulgun may also be used as a melee weapon if the wielder so desires, dealing 1d4 non-lethal damage on a successful pistol whip. The pistol butt may be used to deal lethal damage but as an improvised weapon at the regular −4 penalty to attack roll. The pistol butt is a light weapon and therefore affected by the Weapon Finesse feat.
Due to the delicacy of the mechanics involved in the manufacture of the Soulgun, an attack roll of 1 results in the firearm jamming, meaning the Soulgun will not be able to fire unless the wielder spends a full-round action removing the faulty bullet and resetting the firing mechanism or clearing the psionic charge from the chamber. After this, the Soulgun will resume firing.
To reload or re-charge a Soulgun is a standard action which does provoke an attack of opportunity as any reload of a ranged weapon does.
Due to the complex nature of the mechanisms involved in the production of a Soulgun, it is always masterwork. This is already reflected in the price of the weapon.
Some Soulguns have simple mechanisms that allow for attachments to be added to the weapon with ease.
