Soothers make great spies and infiltrators. Their ability to read their opponent's body langue makes them fearsome foes. An Allomancer burning Brass is able to soothe or guide emotions in a particular direction. An Allomancer can affect a single person or all the individuals in a particular area. A Misting who can only burn Brass is known as a "Soother".

Abilities: Soothers rely strongly on their Charisma for their class features, and can benefit from a high dexterity score and high constitution score.

Races: Humans are the most commonly found Soothers.

Alignment: Any.

All of the following are class features of the Soother.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Soother are proficient with all simple weaponsSoother are proficient with light armor, but not with shields.

Burn Metal (Ex): At the 1st level an Allomancer is able to ‘burn’ metal by ingesting a small portion. This is considered a swift action and is required to use any ability that extends out from the metal. As each metal burns at a different rate the table below shows how many actions can be used for each reserve of metal. Burning a metal of alloy that is impure may result in sickness or in the most extreme cases near death. Allomancers known as Soothers have the ability to burn Brass, which allows them to soothe or guide emotions in a particular direction. A Soother can affect a single person or all the individuals in a particular area. One truly skilled in the ability to burn brass can either use it to gain a +4 roll on Diplomacy or Bluff, to target foe to lower their Sense Motive by -4, or to unleash an emotion dampening wave that mimics Calm Emotions.

Sooth Foe (Su): A Soother can take away rage or the desire to harm from foes. By using an action worth of brass, they are able to impose a -2 penalty to a foes attack roll.

Silver Tongue (Su): The Soother is able to push away doubt from those they talk to, to aid them from haggling to appraisals in the form of a +2 to Diplomacy and Appraisal.

Mind Numb (Ex):The Soother can use this ability to cancel effects such as Rage at the cost of one action. They can also cause foes to suffer from a lack of emotion in a numbing despair. Lowering their AC by 2 points.

Arua of Comforting (Su): At level 4, a Soother can now project the soothing feelings of hope around them by drowning out fear. This allows Allies within 10 feet to gain a +4 to their attack rolls.

Crush Despair (Ex):At the 5th level, a Soother can now work the masses with their subtle touch. While not affecting in combat directly it does allow a few key actions to be performed in the area (40 feet).

  • Insight bonus to AC equal to the Cha modifier.
  • Rally troops (Skaa or Noblemen) into combat. (DM Discretion)
  • +1 to DC resistance of all mind affecting spells casts.

Skew Senses (Su): A Soother can now lower a foe’s ability to sense motive on themselves or an ally in the form of a -4 to their sense motive.

Other Classes: Soother can easily be mistaken for a rogue, for this reason they tend to get along well with rogue, Pewterarms and beguiler. Soothers also generally attract distrust, because they are able to violate the sanctity of the mind.

Combat: A Soother is rear fighter.

A Soothr is a wondrous ally, he can influence in the emotions of others. A Soother can make much money simply by selling their service, after all you can easily detect if a wife is cheating her husband or read the prayer or a monk accused of heresy. And you can't be double-crossed, at least not by the weak-willed. A Soother fully using his tool got a very fruitful career before him.

Daily Life: Soothers can all have all kind of daily lives, some only want to live in peace, others end up as imposters of Royal Houses. A man can easily climb the ladders using Soother abilities, stealing the thoughts of his enemies through careful manipulation is strong advantage in the game of power. No one can hide you anything in the royal court.

NPC Reactions: NPCs tend to avoid and hate open Soothers, with their abilities to influence thoughts (and uncovering dirty secrets) make them very unpopular.

Characters with ranks in knowledge (arcana/Allomancy) can research Soothers to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.
